Phoenix. well, according to the link below:

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-on-basketball/19358877/dion-waiters-lottery-promise-is-suns-at-13

i dont know how much truth you want to put in it since the article is mostly speculation from what i read, but like ive mentioned earlier in another thread, Waiters would fit very well in phoenix. sure if he continued work-outs, theres a chance he goes higher, but there are reports indicating that agents are looking at how their clients would fit in certain teams more than draft position. Waiters to Phoenix would be an example of that.

Waiters would benefit the suns regardless of wheather they resign Nash or not. he could help contribute right away and at the same time, be an important piece in a rebuilding unit. the Suns also have no other shooting guard signed for next season which will almost guarantee him on getting consistent playing time from day one. not even gona mention the fact that the way they play and system they run is ideal to Waiters and is what he’s very familliar with.

Doesn’t the promise kind of go out the window if a team takes him earlier?

yeah it does, but thats up to the team to draft a player they did not work-out or get a good look at up close. i know teams are weary of making such a gamble. i mean, if you were only allowed once a day, would you use your meal on something you know will be good or take a chance on eating that looks good, but dont know how it tastes.

thats up to the suns to keep their promise or not. better prospects have slipped further due to promises made already to players. granger slipped past toronto since they had a promise to Joey Graham, Knight passed the kings last year’s draft since they already had a deal in place to land Jimmer.

although there are some players, cant remember exactly who, that cried foul when a team promised to take them but didnt. this is when signing with a big name agent really helps since the team and gm wouldnt want to piss off the agent who are handling more high profile players.

It would have been in the Pistons best interest if Waiters promise was made by a team before our pick, that guarantees a player will drop like last year with Brandon Knight
