Willfb3ParticipantWho’s the better player right now? Kobe plays more than Vince, and Vince plays for a competitive team where he can’t shoot at will, so stats don’t matter much. They’ve both had a couple scoring outbursts and dunks that remined me of there better years, I would probably go with Kobe myself but I’m curious to hear opinions. So who’s better?

SubZeroParticipantHe said right now, not their whole careers. I don’t think anyone here would ask that question.
I’d say Kobe, just because he can still lock guys down, like when Rodney Hood went wild and Kobe shut him down in the 2nd half. Although Vince is probably the better shooter right now

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantVince hasn’t had to deal with the injuries Kobe has so he clearly has fresher legs than Kobe at this point in his career. He is still able to do some things athletically (at least once in awhile) that Kobe just isn’t capable of anymore.
However, Kobe has always been far more advanced than Vince is terms of bball iq, reading defenses, positioning, footwork, etc. That hasn’t really changed as they’ve gotten older. I’d still say Kobe is the better overall player.

CynthiaParticipantI’d say Vince is much more consistent right now, and definitely a better shooter. But Kobe still has a better overall game than Vince. It’s a tough choice, Vince is actually looking better this year than the last 1-2 years I think.

CynthiaParticipantVery good point.
Vince is still a relevant roleplayer to his teams success; Kobe at this point is just a human trophy that most teams are exploiting, doubling their ticket prices against the Lakers (whether he actually plays or not).
