There are basketball lifers out there, guys we can’t imagine quitting the game.

To me the obvious examples are Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett.

What are your thoughts on bringing both of these guys, in a year or two, to serve as player-coaches for the Sixers.

Mentoring the young guys while still collecting a paycheck.  If they were up for it, I don’t think it’d hurt the Sixers.

Both guys are extremely intelligent ballplayers who I think would instill confidence in these young kids.  Take them under their wings while still playing.  You need that for these young guys that are constantly losing.  Mentally, they are competetive bulls and need to rub it off on the young kids.

Plus I think the two have always wished they could play with each other.  It’d be a good swan-song project while still making loot.

Two all time greats like Kobe and KG as player-coaches? Only if you’re willing to invest atleast 50 million per year in those two players (assuming they would agree, which I highly doubt), neither one of them is going to do it for the "culture" so that they can mentor the likes of KJ McDaniels, MCW and Nerlens Noel.  I just can’t see them wanting to take on the extra workload of coaching a team on top of being marquee names in the game itself.  I think Kobe’s swan song project is winning a 6th title not hoping his work ethic rubs off on the Sixers. Sweet pipe dream though.

Garnett just said that he wants to be an owner of the Timberwolves and that is the only team he can see himself with in a front office/ownership role when he retires.

Timberwolves, we may suck, but at least people want to comeback and felt apart of the family, while they were here. I think most of the timberwolf fans would welcome him back with open arms. He would be a great guy to have around and mentor our younger players even if it was from the front office or from owning the team. He gave us 12 years of his playing career. I was fine when he left, he had earned the right to make that decision. He was a star on and off the court. He was my first favorite NBA player and is the reason I love the timberwolves and will always root for them. He was an all around great player and the definition of a champion. I only wish we could have put better pieces around him and won a championship with him.
