    Pheonix:

Earl Clark- This guy’s potential really fascinates me. His game was a mixed bag though. Showed the ability to face up and post up. Has the disposition of a guard on the court at 6’10, which is a true gift and curse. Soft shooting touch and can handle the ball and pass too, but he fell in love with his jump shot too much. Can post, but doesn’t widen his base enough at times to make useful. Usually a good rebounder, but he coasted too much tonight. Plays decent D and can defend SF’s and PF’s. Is too laid-back on the court. He’ll have to take this setting more seriously, this is key for his development. With Amare gone he’ll have to play some next year, ready or not. He has the potential and versatility to play a Boris Diaw type role in the Suns sets though.

Gani Lawal- Played his usual aggressive and active game. Not talented offensively, but he makes one shoulder/head fake and then goes at the rim hard. Will try and dunk everything. Fights for position down low on both ends. Length and energy allows him to rebound out of his area. Might not play a bunch next year, but he’ll be kept around. Can do everything Amundson does.

Taylor Griffin- It must really bite to be looked at as the “other” brother. Especially when he’s younger. But anyway, Griffin played OK. He rebounded well and showed some raw face-up skills. Tried to dunk on Chase Budinger to start the game. Haha

Matt Janning- He plays for 2 SL teams (played for Boston the other day). Showed the same shooting stroke and passing ability

Gavin Edwards- The undrafted rookie out of UConn showed a shooting stroke and made his mid-range and long-range shots. Still rather stiff though.

    Houston:

Patrick Patterson- He looked just like the Carl Landry replacement I thought he’d be. Really played well. Made face-up shots from as far as the NBA 3-point line, posted and score a little, and worked on D. Runs the floor and will get rewarded. Does the little things like setting screens too. Had an impressive debut. He’s clearly NBA ready guy out there, and plays a grown man’s game.

Jermaine Taylor- Scorers delight. He had a very good night putting the ball in the hole. Slashed to the rim and made his jump shots at a very respectable rate. Defense was pretty good as well. Showed the ability to be an instant offense threat. Houston has 2 2nd round steals in Taylor and…..

Chase Budinger- Showed the same athleticism and shooting touch. Can’t create his own shots unless he’s slashing in a straight line. Can pass the ball very well and made some plays in the pick and roll. Played mediocre D as he usually does. He is pretty talented, and continues to look like a 2nd round steal as an offensive specialist.

Jordan Hill- Oozing with upside, but is a little raw still. Has decent touch around the rim, but he needs to gain strength. Doesn’t finish well through contact. Looks EXACTLY like Waka Flocka. Athletic freak who finishes hard when he’s not met with contact. Tries to dunk as much as possible. Decent rebounder. Needs to get more aware on D, could get a lot of weak-side blocks if he wanted with his physical and athletic tools. Might be ready to start next year. Compliments Patterson very well, and vice versa.

Ish Smith- My boy! Played extremely fast and shows good athleticism for his size. Drops dimes and shows floor vision as usual. Not likely to score, and is a poor shooter. Not a good defender due to his small size and lack of strength. Too bad. I hope he can get on somewhere.

The Wizards drafted him but traded him for cash. We should have never let him go. You see what happen a team thinks they’re ready to win but they really suck. They traded the 5th pick for Mike Miller and Randy Foye, both who are gone after 1 season. Much due respect to Abe Pollin, but good thing we have a new owner. Abe Pollin had a great heart and really cared about the team, but Ted Leonsis has much more sports knowledge then Abe Pollin. Ted Leonsis is trying to build his team the right way by building through the draft, and if we still had Abe, who knows. We might have traded the #1 overall pick for a buNch a scrubs. SMDH.

When I say him, I mean Jermaine Taylor.

Oh ok lol. I was wondering who you were talking about. ha. Washington would’ve had no need for him last year. They had a bunch of scorers on that roster. They need wing defenders now
