UVA is a legit ACC contender.  Malcolm Brogdon hit a three at the buzzer against Pitt yesterday to give them a huge 48-45 win at Pitt.  Tony Bennett has done an amazing job with that program installing a tough, defensive minded system.  Akil Mitchell and Joe Harris are all-acc peformers.  They dominated an improvong Carolina team in Charlottesville a week ago.  Their only conference loss was at Duke where DUke needed a lucky roll on a late corner three by Sulaimon to escape with the win after blowing a ten point lead late.  UVA plays at the Cuse March 1 and if things continue the way they are going right now, that game could be for the ACC regular season title.  I think UVA could do some serious damage in the tournament.

UVa is tough to watch on account of their Wisconsin style offense (they play at a snail’s pace and use just about all of the 35 seconds on the shot clock) but their defense is elite and they execute the game plan. They’re now ranked #7 in the country in the KenPom rankings (most objective ranking system in the world) which is extremely impressive.

UVa, Duke, and Pitt are all underrated by the AP and Coaches Poll, which is odd, b/c normally ACC programs get hyped up, not undervalued.

I havent seen them play yet this year but i know theyve gotten some big recruits in the last couple years. A guy i work with is a huge VA fan so ive been watching them in the standings, and they are going to be tough in the tourny.

But @Dale i have to slightly disagree that ACC teams get hyped up too much. Granted ill give you Duke and UNC get over-valued…teams like Wake, NC State, VA, and Miami dont usually carry the "overhyped" title to me. Thats just my opinion. If anything, i think the "football" conferences are usually over-rated.

That’s actually a very good point, Bmore. It’s more Duke and UNC, and possibly Syracuse, although they’ve been in the Big East and they have earned their stripes in recent seasons.

Duke beat Pitt on the road for their best road win of the season.  The game Saturday was an absolute classic.  Duke ended up losing by two in overtime.  Did anybody see the recent polls today?  Duke jumped six spots!!!!  After a loss!!!  I have never seen that before in my life.
