Vonleh if they don’t trade and Exum or Embiid isn’t there.  I just read the sltrib and desnews reports about Vonleh’s visit and the Jazz brass were the least positive about vonleh of any of the players they have brought in.  They said he didn’t shoot well and has a lot to learn.  Smoke screen.  They loved Randle and Gordon… hahaha.  What do you think, smoke screens in full effect now for all the teams?

I think Vonleh is a terrific fit and creates a versatile frontcourt with Kanter and Favors. Vonleh would be able to stretch the defense at the four and allow Favors to play more at the five. Vonleh would see all of his time at the four which would allow him to use his length to his advantage against four’s rather than five’s

Vonleh’s ability to play the stretch 4 seems appealing if I’m the Jazz, especially next to Favors or Gobert who don’t have much offense outside 10 feet. However he’s not just some unathletic stiff like Anderson or Bonner. Vonleh tested out almost freakishly athletic for his size and should be a good defender and rebounder. Is he raw? of course.

This means Kanter is the odd man out. I expect them to trade him either to move up their other pick or for a vet after July 1st.

If they end up staying at #5, I think I have to agree in that Vonleh is the best choice. Him and Favors would be a solid frontline to build with for the future.

They do have Gobert to help with the height, but a Favors and Vonleh combo would be 6-10 and 6-9 which isn’t very tall.  Jefferson and Millsap was undersized at 6-10 and 6-8.

That is assuming Kanter is someone they move, instead of overpaying.

For Utah, Smart is a bad fit, Randle and Gordon are similar in size to Vonleh.  The Jazz should do everything they can to move into the top 2.  They did surprise by moving up for Deron Williams, maybe they can move up again this year.

Although if it is Utah misdirecting about Vonleh, maybe they can pick him as a small forward.  Gobert/Kanter, Favors, Vonleh, Hayward, Burke could be very good.  Vonleh would have to hit outside shots, and maybe he did when Utah had him in to visit.

Kanter hasn’t made the strides expected of him this past season, but he’s still more nba ready than Vonleh. If the Jazz selects Vonleh, they are in no hurry to trade Kanter or Favors. You can pair them in the frontcourt in any combination. Let them develop and trade one later on when you figure out the best two.

Yeah but at the same time hte Jazz need shooting help and there happens to be a two elite prospects in the 10-14 range in Stauskas or McDermott. They are NBA ready and can help them from day one. Kanter would be the least painful way to move up and get them.

I’ll send you the 3rd pick for 5 & Alec Burks.  You can take Exum 3rd and I’ll draft Randle 5 and still have the 10th pick.  I think I can plug Burks and Randle in as starters and have some flexibility @ 10

The Jazz would no longer being willing to do this with Wiggins and Parker both gone. They might do #5 + Kanter though.

I don’t see the Jazz trading up for Exum…  Parker or Wiggins, yes, Exum no.  Pre-Emiid injury this deal could have happened if Parker or Wiggins was available at the 3, I don’t see that now… Exum may be there at the 5 anyways, or Emiid, or Vonleh.  Who knows.  But no way they give up Burks and 5 for Exum…
