caray12ParticipantThis game is surprisingly close and at one point it looked like in the second quarter Greece was going to take the league. It’s halftime right now on ESPN3 or WatchESPN. Diamond Stone is having a monstrous 1st half with 18 points and on the Greece side Papagiannis is having a solid game with 8 points and 6 rebounds with having a great touch around the rim.

European BasketballerParticipantWhat do you mean "suprisingly close"? How many times do i have to say that Greece has excellent basketball players? Do you really think I just come here and lie about these players and make all of this stuff up?
Greece has great players, all the way from the juniors, who if they were American would be top touted high school stars and NCAA stars and NBA draft picks, and to the senior players and Greek league players, who if they were Americans, would all be playing in the NBA.
But there is an enormous BIAS AGAINST Greek players in USA. I have said it over and over again. USA has bias against Greek players and so they never get any chances at all in NBA. The owner of this site even admiteed there IS a bias in NBA against Greek players.
Anyway, of course these young Greek players are very good, just like I have been saying here for a long time. The game would have been closer if Greece was not missing two of its best players that are not playing, Dionysis Skoulidas could not play because he is injured and also Kostas Antetokounmpo could not play because USA would not let him play in the tournament.
Also two of the other best players Christidis and Psychidis did not play, but that was because the coach decided against using them because he wanted older players. But anyway, if Greece would have had Skoulidas and Antetokounmpo, the game would probably be closer since Skoulidas provides another good ball handler and Antetokounmpo provides a good perimeter scorer.
Anyway, the point is I do NOT come here and make up about these players (the ones I usually talk about the most here) being good and that they would be elite high school and NCAA players and NBA draft picks if they were Americans. All the people saying I make that stuff up and that these players are "scrubs" are stupid, ignorant, lying trolls. That includes whether they claim to be American, non-Greek Europeans, or Greeks or whatever. Anyone saying that stuff is that.
Even after I was proven to be FACTUAL with everything after I talked about Giannis Antetokounmpo a whole year here before anyone in USA had even heard of him and that includes NBA teams, even after that I still am called a "liar" when I say for example Papagiannis is a good player or whatever.
Or I still get called a troll by the poster Greek and he claims to be "Greek" and says all these players I mention are horrible, can never be any good, can never be this, can never be that, etc.
They are all lying trolls.
Greece has outstanding players and NOTHING is a "surprise" if they play well against USA. That includes the senior team also.

caray12ParticipantThe only player that I really heard of is Papagiannis and that’s it. It was surprisingly close for me.

DolanCareParticipantEuroBaller would be an easy target for a sting operation. All the cops would have to do is post a slightly negative remark about Greek basketball and he’d give up his IP address lickity-split.

McDunkin1. " and also Kostas Antetokounmpo could not play because USA would not let him play in the tournament."
Because USA wouldn’t let him play?
Do you mean the country itself stopped him or a person in the USA? Did Obama give direct orders to this young Nigerian to not play for Greece?
P.S. Greece leaving yet another Ant………mpo brother off the national team…wouldn’t happen in Nigeria tho.
2. For those interested in watching ESPNU has aired this and the game this morning against Angola

European BasketballerParticipantYes it would happen in Nigeria you trolling liar. He was not allowed by USA to play. Because USA would not let him leave the country. Something with his visa. So STOP BEING such an IGNORANT and insulting person.
And for like the 100th time here, he does not have any Nigerian citizenship, and not even a Nigerian passport. The younger brothers have never been to Nigeria and the parents don’t have the rights to go there as they relinquished their citizenship for political reasons.
The only one that has a passport to go there is the oldest brother, because he was born there and he never renounced his citizenship.
None of it has anything to do with Greece and for you to even imply that is racist.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantYes there are good players over there and some would be highly ranked h.S players but just because they are over there doesn’t mean there are many Greek players falling through the cracks as far as the NBA. They scout over there and the ones who are good enough get picked while the others don’t.
arent you the same guy who pumped up the big Greek guy as the next Shaq? The one the Clippers end up cutting due to get worked in practice and not being able to stay in shape?
