Didn’t see all of it but Anthony Davis looked pretty dominant. Definiteley think he’s going to have an MVP type season. I also saw Rudy Gay awkwardly playing  a stretch 4, I know it’s been successful in the past with international play, but I don’t think Rudy is the man for it.

Does anyone have the box scores? I didn’t watch it and keen to see who did well on paper.

From what I found online Gordon Hayward, Damian Lillard, and DeMar DeRozan did not play too, and Pumlee saw good minutes. Not sure if this is a sign of who will be cut.

I saw it. Hayward and derozan both didn’t play and Korver and Lollards both got like 2-3 minutes. Looks like those 4 are not in the plans. Davis, harden, curry, Klay, faired all looked good. Rose was rusty but showed his quickness and blew by guys on a couple plays. Parsons, gay and plumlee all didn’t do much.

I watched the highlights of that game and it was different than the type of highlights I’m used to with the USA. The USA usually had a bunch of long freak athletes on the court at all times and would wreak havoc on the defense turning into lots of dunks on the other side.

This has got to be the least athletic team the USA has put up, at least since 2004, therefore will be different than teams of the past.

That is what happens when you only watch the highlights.  First quarter of the game, AD had at least three fast break, alley-oops.

Ugm… LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Shawn Marion, Amar’e Stoudemire, Allen Iverson, and Lamar Odom played for USA in 2004 so I Wouldn’t sneeze at their athleticism yet they still did not win. As far as this team goes, it may seem like the game vs. Brazil was a significant win, I’m really concerned about team USA’s lack of chemistry, particularly on offense. It was a 5 point game going into the 4th quarter, USA was home and they lacked flow offensively. They can have all the talent and athleticism they want, but they are going to have to find some continuity on offense in order to beat Spain with their full squad in Spain.

Also, the US scored THIRTY! (30!) in the first quarter, a ten minute quarter. It was pretty obvious they took the foot off the pedal.  This team will have NO problem putting up points.

I suspect that Drummond or Cousins will get a bunch of minutes in the next game. Plumlee played about as well as you can hope from him (ultra-efficient going 3-3 and 3-4 FT), but I doubt this battle is over. Maybe Coach K wanted to either play people real minutes so they could get into the game or not play them at all.

Brazil is a good team. Good bigs and Barbosa at the wing.

This USA team should win, but it is by no means a guaranteed victory. There just aren’t enough elite two way players on the team. They’ve really only got one in A Davis. The rest of the other guys are mainly elite offensive players. Rose looks great, but he has to be somewhat rusty. So there are some issues. Plumlee is a guy who tries on defensive but he is not good at it yet. Faried is a great rebounder and efficient scorer, but he is too small to play good defense. Cousins often forgets to play defense. Drummond can get confused and is out of position. Supposedly in practice his defense has been so bad, that and his FT is resulting in him getting cut for either Plumlee or Drummond.
