cavairo7ParticipantOkay so this probably has a 0.5 % chance of happening but I’m curious about what you guys think.
Let’s say that in this college season Andrew Wiggins lives up to the hype and then some. We never got to see LeBron play in college but WIggins will be referred to as the closest thing to ever seeing LBJ type talent perform in the NCAA spotlight in years, decades even.
Now in the NBA, the Pacers deal with major yet non-career threatening injuries to both Paul George and Roy Hibbert. Also Danny Granger is no longer a star scorer and is a shell of his former self the same way both Richard Jefferson and Caron Butler were once they turned 30. Indiana has one of the worst records in the east as a result.
Indiana wins the lottery and has the chance to pick Wiggins but instead looks to trade the number #1 pick to the Celtics to take Rondo and the #4 overall pick (which Boston ends up with) to then pick either Randle or Smart.
If all of these crazy hypothetical situations happened, would you trade the right to draft Wiggins if you were Indiana to get Rondo and the #4 overall pick? Or would you even consider that type of trade if you were Boston? Let the opinions begin!

cavairo7ParticipantPutting a 0.00000000001 % just didn’t look so good though as i was typing.

frogmanParticipantlol this is nuts. You are overestimating the likelihood of this playing out by exactly 0.5%

frogmanParticipantBut to answer your question yes you make that deal if you are Indiana.
Rondo – Smart – George – West – Hibbert would be ridiculous.
This is clearly never happening though.

jjbutler73ParticipantIt’s all pointless anyways, but no way you get Rondo and draft Smart. You don’t need Smart and he won’t be available at 4 anyways.

WinterSoldierParticipantThis scenerio is not going to happen, but I’m curious why think Smart wouldn’t be available at 4?

KHAM83ParticipantWhat if David Stern retired from being commish, only to suit up and play for a team, which team will win “The Decision IV”? Assuming Lebron, Howard, and I guess Oden were Decisions 1, 2, and 3…..but come on, its a hypothetical questions dude asked. If you think its stupid, then ignore it, but to actually sign in just to say “This will never happen” is pointless. If this “was” to happen, what will you do if you were Indy???
IMO- It depends on what how much better you think George can become and what exactly you can get for Wiggins. Believing George will become an elite player, Ill shop the pick yes, but if I was to do the Boston trade you suggested, I will not take Smart bc I don’t think he and Rondo will compliment each other. Depending on Stevenson’s progression, Im going for the best sg that can shoot (ie James Young if #4 isn’t a reach) , or a pf prospect in Randle or even Parker if he can play the 4 next to Hibbert. Then again, if Wiggins proves to be what he’s projected to be, both he and George can play the 2 or 3…..therefore drafting Wiggins and having he and George as your wings 🙂

Sewok15ParticipantCaron Butler averaged 15 a game at age 30 in under 30 minutes a game. He wasn’t a shell of his former self in the least bit at that point. He did however suffer from a major “non career” threatening injury that year that Dallas won the title….much like you are hoping for Paul George and Hibbert to do this year.
This is crazy talk.
