Every year there’s a few guys who go undrafted and end up making the league and being a solid player. Guys like Ben Wallace, Wesley Matthews, Brian Roberts. Who do you see this year who’s projected to go late 2nd round or not at making a difference. EX: Don’t put say Archie Goodwin cause he will get drafted 99% chance. Mine:

I disagree with you on Iverson. He has size, and that’s about it. I’ve watched him since he was a FR at Minnesota, he seemed like he had a load of potential. But he never seemed to maximize it. And I’ve seen enough games where he got pushed around, not a ton, but still way more than someone with his size and build should.

Not to mention he was always second fiddle to Ralph Sampson III. If you’re a bonafide league kinda player then you don’t let that happen. Then again, I’ve been wrong probably more than right, and Greg Stiemsma seems to be holding his own in the NBA. So you never know.

After his freshman season he was considered a first rounder but this has statistically been his best season for Gonzaga. He lost his shooting touch a bit over the years especially from deep and this really hurt him cause as a tweener and undersized 4 he needs to show the perimeter skills that he can play the 3. I still like him very much as a prospect. He is solid in most aspects and was the backbone of the Gonzaga for at least the past two years.

I really hope he will find a roster next season because he is a rock solid player, plays with a chip on his shoulder and might be something like Eduardo Najera or a James Posey type of player on a good team. He can bring instant energy of the bench and can lead a 2nd unit with his will and leadership. His upside might be minimal but he plays like a veteran already.

Yeah Michael Snaer immediately comes to mind. Any team needing toughness and athleticism on the defensive side of the ball should be taking a long hard look at Snaer.

Jack Cooley – Has the bulk and size to play PF/C, is a great rebounder and measured very well with a 7′ + wingspan and an adequate standing reach. Could be in the mix 50-60, but also a good chance of going the free agent route. He has what it takes to make a roster. He reminds me of Jon Brockman, but with the size needed to play a PF/C combo.

Measured a nice 6’9” wingspan for a defensive shooting guard and is mobile,strong and a good leaper. Has never blown anyone away but has played well in the PIT and in New Jersey and could be a nice 3 and D player to play at the end of your bench and split time in the D-League during his first season.

Alex Oriakhi – I like him for much of the same reasons I like Cooley. He’s a big strong guy with two position potential and along with shooting, rebounding and a big strong body are translatable skills as long as they’re not in the body of a slow player. Oriakhi is a good athlete for a guy around 260 lbs hit 11’8.5” as a max reach solidifying him as having rim protection potential which is valuable to have coming off your bench.

He’s the guy I was thinking of. He doesn’t have the physical attributes to get drafted, but he has the intangibles and game to get signed. He’s got a good combination of high motor and high intelligence.

I think Carrick Felix is a solid player. I watched him in the combine and I think is very underrated. I also like Vander Blue’s game. But only time will tell with these players. Hopefully they get drafted to a team that knows how to use them properly.

Let me preface this by admitting that I’m totally biased (Illinois fan born, bred, and alumnus), but I really think Brandon Paul will be better then his late 2nd round selection. The only real hole in his game is consistency. But he just has always seemed like one of those players whose skills would be maximized in the NBA, and don’t always translate to the slower, more clogged, college game. The kid can flat fill it up when he wants to (40+ games against elite Ohio St. squads are no fluke). IMO he just seems like he needs a coach who can let his skills flourish. He has all the intagibles, decent 2 guard size at 6’4″ and a lean, muscular 200 lbs., he obviously has the athleticism, if you watched him throw down sick dunks on BIG10 opponents you know this, if not, his 39.5″ vert at the combine can tell you that. Plus he’s a great kid, and this is coming from someone who’s known him personally more than a few times.

Sure he won’t be a all-star type guard, but he can fill it up, he’s got a great head on him, and given the right situation he could thrive. I’m thinking a bench mob quick buckets kind of a guy.

He had a coach who gave him the freedom to play his game this past yr with similar results. He got off to a great start, feasting on the out of conference play. Then conference play comes along and he’s a 38% shooter, jacking up a ton of 3’s on 30%, with more TOs than assists.

He’s a good athlete with some defensive potential, but as an Illini fan I’m glad he’s gone. He’s a maddening player to watch if you’re a fan of the team he plays on because he’s good for a number of a really dumb plays a game. Mentally, he didn’t improve at all after 4 years.
