UCLA IS BACK!!! SHABAZZ IS A BRUIN!!!
But, seeing that we talked to Shabazz yesterday and he said himself he had not decided yet, think this whole thing is a bit premature. Recruiting can be unpredictable, but we will find out for sure on April 11.
He might still end up being ineligible.
I'm not trusting a guy tweeting that reliable sources are teliing him Shabazz is going to UCLA. I'm going to reserve all judgement until Shabazz says himself where he's going.
Well, I will say he is playing in the Nike Hoop Summit, so anything is possible. Kyle Anderson is as well, though he is still planning on going to UCLA. Tony Parker is there as well with UCLA as a possibility. Either way, Adidas making sure someone goes to a school over Nike seems pretty far fetched. Both are great companies with amazing athletic designs, but Nike is still the big fish.
Shabazz said the style of play was the main thing behind his choice of school and I believe that leaves things pretty wide open. I think he and Kyle Anderson would play exceptionally together at UCLA, not to mention their stressing defense. Still, Kentucky will still be a possibility. I was really impressed with Shabazz in person, seems like a great kid. I have a hard time believing a shoe company was the deciding factor in where he lands. Crazier things have happened, but he is going to get money from Nike or Adidas down the line one way or another.
I'm not trying to be that &$#%#&@! who acts like he's some kind of insider, but I'm pretty well connected in the AAU circuit and I have um...some pretty knowledgeable friends that know a lot about the inner working of these high profile recruitments
I agree Shabazz is a great great kid. His father Ron Holmes...I'll reserve my judgment on. I've been hearing that Adidas is trying to make UCLA relevant again and they'll do anything to make it so. They had a hand in getting Anderson too...and I'm talking more than 100 Gs....
And they're only going to give Bazz more...
I'd be completely surprised if Bazz didn't choose UCLA...and its looking like Tony may go there as well. Rashad Muhammad (Bazz's little brother) is already rumored to have been looking at some highschools in the LA area.
I haven't heard about any money changing hands in regards to Tony. I think he just really likes the full package UCLA has to offer (LA, Blueblood, chicks, relative easy PAC-12...chicks) combined with the fact that Kansas just lost Danny Manning, and I think he REALLY doesn't want to go to Duke. (lol our last first round big man drafted was Shelden Williams....SHELDEN WILLIAMS)
I'm a Duke fan and I know Tony's parents are too. So I'm hoping momma Parker somehow wins out.
If I was Bazz, I'd go to Kentucky along with Noel, but if he did...Ron Holmes would have to give some money back...
Things could change from where they are, but as of right now Bazz is headed to UCLA.
Lol yeah I wish I was a high profile recruit...
Hell I wish I was an NBA caliber player. You get money, chicks, and fame for what?
Bouncing a rubber ball up and down the court.
And people treat you like gods (except Scalabrine) (oh wait yeah Scalabrine is definitely a god in my eyes)
Crazy how our society works no?
I always found it to be kinda funny yet very sad how entertainers (athletes, movie stars, etc.) can pull in millions of dollars per year, yet our contries educators, law enforecement, firefighters, and soldiers will never sniff the type of money a scrub like Slava Medvedenko got in his time in the league.
I can't say I do not believe it is entirely possible, but I do know that neither one was telling people anything about them having chosen a school (Shabazz or his father). He said Rashad had interest in Oregon and was being heavily recruited by SDSU (my only question to him other than "What is the correct pronunciation of your name?". It was, indeed, Sha-BOZZ). He was asked about his school though and said he did not know, plus his father's response was the exact same. We will sign on April 11, but I doubt your story goes public until someone pulls a Nevin Shapiro, lol.
i hope he doesnt go to kentucky, come on now, calipari just got his title with 6 first round draft picks. if the rumor is true and bazz goes to ucla, calipari better hope for nerlens noel because his wildcats are next year will be nowhere near the talent he had this year.
The new Big-3 era was really only supposed to last three years. The Celtics were supposed to have a very short championship window and, when the three years were over, they would have to start anew around Rajon Rondo and whatever other draft picks may have matured into contributors along the way. Instead, they have now nearly doubled their life expectancy, entering this season as one of a handful of teams who should not be making any plans for June golf outings. Meanwhile, the success of the original Big-3 has spawned copycats around the league who saw Boston's immediate, dramatic turnaround and want to experience it themselves.
