We will be debating who is better for a while more then likely. I would like to get other peoples opinions.I honestly have not chosen one or the other. Reports out of Hampton,Va this weekend during EYBL is that Jones was head and shoulders above everyone. Obviously he is just 6’1 and doesn’t have long arms and isn’t a tremendous athlete but his skills are a notch above everyone else’s and he uses his head. Now Emanuel is the 6’4 or 6’5 with the long arms and the quick twitch fibers.Jones shoots better, both handle the ball well but jones has less turnovers,I would say their court vision is pretty equal, and both can score when needed. Different scouts have different views some say Tyus some say Eman. Most agree that Eman has more potential. But my outlook on potential is do you think he is likely to reach it. Because to me Tyus seems very likely to reach whatever ceiling he has. Also another note is both players never reclassed or repeated a grade. Both were born in 1996. There are a lot of players in their class born in 95 and some in 94.So both are young. I would like to get other people’s view on who is better or who would they take.

I may be biased because Eman lives in the city I live in,but I got Eman. He can do everything on the court, and has the athleticism to do it really good. No one can stay in front of him, and he can finish on anyone or dish it to a big. His shot will only get better and he will only get smarter. Eman really has the potential to keep up with the Westbrooks,Roses and Walls in the NBA

Yea I have to go with Mudiay. I like Tyus Jones. He reminds me of Mike Conley Jr. And Mike Conley Jr. is having a solid NBA career. I just think Mudiay has the potential to be scary good. Plus if he grows some more does anybody see Mudiay playing the two guard? Or is he better suited at the point? He could be a dominant 2 with his ball handling ability and slashing ability. Once he gets that jumper falling it’s a wrap.

Mudiay has the greater upside, but Tyus already plays like a pro.

Whether Mudiay is a point or a SG in the future, I don’t see him playing off the ball. His playmaking and breakdown abilities are too good.

I actually hasn’t watch much of bith, but Tyus looks just a regular guy who is skilled but nothing special and gets benefited because all of high-potential guys a way more raw, but at the end of the day they can be better..

those “he isn’t athletic but his skills are above eveeryone” doesn’t work usually talking about HS propects..

but once again I might be wrong about both it’s from what I have seen in only a few clips

If we were talking about a position other then PG there could be an argument about the athleticism. But playing point guard isnt about being the fastest, quickest, or most explosive. There are plenty of guys who “have more potential” that never live up to it because IQ is always forgotten when predicting potential.

Tyus Jones by all accounts is the truest point guard to come along in a really long time. His instincts are off the charts, he sees things faster then everybody else and he is more athletic then people are giving him credit for here. The best point guards in the league (who have lasted the longest) are the cerebral floor general types (Paul, Williams, Kidd, Nash, Miller etc.)

I haven’t seen too much of Tyus Jones but I have seen Emmanuel Mudiay play at the National High School Invitational twice. I came away quite impressed with Eman. I love his size, ability to get to the rim and his court vision. He turned out to be my favorite player in the whole tournament. A tournament that included Tyler Ennis, Kasey Hill, Nigel Williams Goss… From the little bit of time that I did see of Tyus Jones he didn’t impress me.

Of the 2 players Tyus Jones is the only one I’ve seen play in person. Jones the way I see it will be more like an Isaiah Thomas type point guard that will create easy shots for teammates and score off frunners/floaters when needed. Not a jump out of gym athlete but he’s very smooth and crafty running an offense.

He has good form on his shot but isn’t a great shooter yet. Jones has a habit of losing the player he is guarding but he has quick hands and good instincts on defense.
