Tyreke, the real superstar of this draft? Next Wade?

Physicals

Evans
Height: 6"5.25
Weight: 221
Reach: 8"8
Wingspan: 6"11.25
Body fat: 7.1

Wade
Height: 6"4
Weight: 212
Reach: 8"6
Wingspan: 6"10
Body fat: 6.7

Freshman year stats

Evans
College: Memphis
Games Played: 37
PPG: 17.1 on 45% FG
2ptFG: 52%(10.3 attempts)
3ptFG: 27%(3 attempts)
FT:71 (5.2 attempts)
5.4 rebounds
3.9 assist
2.1 steals
.8 blocks
3.6 to's

Wade
College: Marquette
Games Played: 32
PPG: 17.8 on 48% FG
2ptFG: 50%(14 attempts)
3ptFG: 34%(1 attempts)
FT: 69% (4.8 attempts)
6.6 rebounds
3.4 assist
2.5 steals
1.1 blocks
3 to's

They're really not different from each other, so its logical to say Evans has Wade-like potential or even better. He's definitely not a bust pick or "Larry Hughes" like most stupid mock sites have him as.

Tyreke doesn't

possess the athleticism or speed to be a "d-wade" type of player...and to let you know, Larry Hughes was a very good player.

Their stats at the combine

Their stats at the combine weren't that different.

IMO, Evans has more PG skills than Wade...Evans really transformed into an offensive facilator at the end of the season at Memphis.

I don't think people should be sleeping on Evans.

Evans has more PG skills than Wade...u must not watch much basketball!!!

Wade is probably the best passing 2-guard in the league!!!

Evans is nowhere near the

Evans is nowhere near the athlete that Wade is. I don't care about combine results. Have you ever watched Wade play, he is an elite athlete, while Evans is clearly average in terms of quickness and leaping ability.

he will be.....

I think evans will be a contributor to a good team for many years but he wont be near a wade. I dont even think he will make an all star team. but i wont be suprised if he makes the all rookie team this year

I see him bieng one of those guys who can score, but doesnt win

like Jamal Crawford or Ricky Davis, and he can float from city to city who needs scoring.

No

Do not put an unproven hype drivin kid in the same sentence as a well established NBA superstar. He's not nearly as athletic or quick. Even in a sprint I'd take Wade. Sure state are similar in college. But stats mean nothing these days. Look at Westbrook and how his averages made him seem like a bust! And then JJ Redick had outstanding numbers (better than Wades and Reke's) but he's not nearly as good as either of them. This is just another that has jumped on the tyreke hype train.

no wade..

I think Tyreke will be a good player in the NBA and has great potential but to be serious i dont think he can be like Wade. Wade just plays at a different level then Tyreke. Identical numbers doesn't mean they are going to be alike in the NBA.

No way Tyreke Evans will be

No way Tyreke Evans will be as good as Wade. Wade is by far more athletic than Evans and also a more all around game. Forget the college numbers, just watch the games. This isn't a knock on Evans, but come on Wade is one of the top 3 players in the NBA. Wade just has that special ability that few players have; he can make the teamates around him better but also take over games when needed.

Damn you guys are straight

Damn you guys are straight up hating on Evans, he's a pretty good athlete, not freakish. Wade and him had the same results in the draft combine, Evans isn't that far from Wade...when Evans starts blowing up the league and leading the ROY votes...you fools will remember this thread.

Evans shoots a low

Evans shoots a low percentage from 3pt. I didn't get a chance to see him a whole lot but in games I did watch the majority of his baskets were scored in the paint (makes sense with his high 2p fg%). I don't doubt he's skilled at penetrating the lane but his inconsistent jumper is a concern. Wade had a solid mid-range J when he came into the league and has only improved in that category. Additionally, Evans stats are inflated because he plays against a bunch of high school teams that make up the rest of C-USA.

So does Wade...thats why

So does Wade...thats why they're similar comparisons.
Evans is a prolific scorer, he may not have a consistent 3pt shot, but his jumpshot can be a weapon for him....and he can improved it just like everyone else does...not really a concern, its called practice.
Exactly...you prove my point. Wade wasn't an elite jumpshooter ever...he turned his jumpshot into a weapon of his arsenal...its all about practice and time.
His stats aren't that inflated, C-USA isn't that weak, Big East is elite, no doubt.

Dudes are making excuses to hate on Evans.
smh.

What? C-USA isnt that weak?

What? C-USA isnt that weak? Name 2 teams from it. Wade always had a good midrange shot and a dealdy fade away. Wade is 10x the athlete Evans is. Evans can be a good player but its crazy to compare him to Wade.

Lame....Both posted similar

Lame....Both posted similar combine stats, Evans isn't a terrible athlete at all.

If you knew anything about exercise and strength conditioning, getting to an elite takes time and practice, Evans shows he has good work ethic in Memphis, and that alone will not stop him from reaching his potential, despite what you guys make up and ignore the facts and stats.

UAB, Houston,Tulsa, UTEP, and UCF are all solid teams, 20+ win teams.
They're not Big East teams, but you have to be a god damn fool to believe these are easy teams to get by.

Its ignorant and crazy not to.

No one is saying Evans is better than Wade at this stage, but both guys were very similar in PRODUCTION and PHYSICALS and theres no denying that whether if your Wadefanatics, Evanhaters, or total opposites. Facts are facts, and you can't prove so other wise.

I find it funny that people say they don't play similar, when they produce at the same Freshman year college rate (Getting to the free throw line, where they take their shots, shooting percentage, rebounding guards, high # of steals, etc and etc).

Okay, no one handles the ball or runs or shoots the ball the same.

But theres no denying, once again both players had nearly identical freshman seasons....playing the same position at the same size.

Forget stats, the reason

Forget stats, the reason that Evans will never be Wade is simply because DWade is one of the most explosive players in the NBA and Evans is an average athlete.

Forget your opinion. Evans

Forget your opinion.
Evans is a very GOOD athlete, and will be one of the strongest guards in the NBA. Evans combination of quickness and POWER will turn him into an elite slasher in the league.

Haha

This is like when Deeds said that Ricky Rubio is like John Stockton with more skills or Blake Griffen is a more athletic Karl Malone.

Tyreke Evans and Dwayne Wade may have similar numbers but they don't play the same way. Tyreke Evans does not have "Wade-like potential or even better" This comparison is REtarded.

Tyreke Evans is probably the

Tyreke Evans is probably the most talented player from his draft class behind Jennings, so its not retarded at all since the potential is there, and the production is there unlike DeRozan (where its okay for people to compare him to an NBA legend like Vince Carter) or Brandon Jennings...not only you dont have money, but you're missing simple logic and a brain.

Evans does need to improve his range, but his slashing game is built for the NBA...he overpowers every guard he matches up with, and he's already bigger than most NBA guards at 6"6 221. Mark my word, Evans will be a top 3 player from this draft.

IDK...

Idk, its def to early to make a call, however Wade did DEVELOP his J. Evans has plenty of time to do this. Who knows? I love how people on here confuse their own personal opinions with facts. I doubt Evans reaches anything close to Wade, but sure their is that chance. The funniest thing I see here though, is how many say he's average athleticism. That is just beyond ignorant.

OK

Sorry flex. You are right about the numbers.

Jennings and Evans most talanted in draft? Evans had D-Wade potential?

Nobody knows how to respond to your crazy allegations. It's like saying invisible-bigfoot lives in your garage. You may be right, but you can't prove it.

Jennings and Evans do not have the most talent in this draft class, but maybe their graduating classes. Evans did produce on the same rate as wade, but they are different styles of players. Evans needs the ball in his hands to be a big scoring threat. And I do believe evans J will improve in the league, not to an elite level, but it will improve. He has the potential to be very good and to make a few all star teams, but he has alot of work to get to that level. He is like most in this draft, living off that potential. But so are most players in most drafts.
