Tyler Ennis

his big game tonight peaked my interest, but how has he been doing this year syracuse fans? Just came across a hs tape and he seems quicker and more athletic than people give him credit for. great floor game. thoughts?

I watch every Syracuse game,

I watch every Syracuse game, and followed him throughout high school last year since he committed pretty early on. He has tremendous poise and does a great job of handling the ball. Seems to have decent touch around the basket and an average jumpshot (though he's struggled with his shot a TON so far this year). Having said that, he's not the type of guy that is going to break you down off the dribble like Kyrie. He also tends to be a little too conservative IMO. Doesn't turn it over, but doesn't really make many great passes like you saw with MCW last year. His defensive energy also leaves a good amount to be desired (though he has a great knack for being able to strip players as they drive past him). Lastly, maybe it's because Syracuse was spoiled by having MCW last year, but Ennis' passing and vision both pale in comparison to MCW.

Having said all this, we're 6 games into Ennis' freshman year. He has a lot of time to refine his game. But I see him as a 4 year player that will eventually get a shot in the NBA Summer League before fading into obscurity.

Jerami Grant, and possibly Trevor Cooney and BJ Johnson (freshman that won't get much playing time this year) are the prospects I'm keeping an eye on from Syracuse.

The Point

Thank Kobe Ennis showed up at the Cuse because they have zero depth at the point. They try that transfer from Duke (Gbinije) at the point, but he is definitely not a point guard.

Yeah, Ennis is definitely one

Yeah, Ennis is definitely one of the most important players on this year's team, since Syracuse really doesn't have a point guard if anything happens to him. They have Kaleb Joseph coming in next year at least.

Jay Bilas had a good

Jay Bilas had a good comparison for Ennis that I agree with. He compared Ennis to a young Doc Rivers. Good size, strength and poise for a PG. Unflappable and even keeled. High IQ. Not overly shifty or quick but knows how to use his body and ball screens to get to where he needs to go and protect the ball.
