GlenTaylorSucksParticipantThere are so many things the wolves could do this summer- Kahn, please don’t mess this up. Here’s what I think should happen
For the draft: One of two things- trade with Philly to grab Turner, or select Cousins at 4. Johnson is a nice player, yes, but there are TONS of wings in this draft. Cousins is a legit low post guy that can match up with the Lakers and the Dwight Howard’s out there- there really aren’t many guys who can bring that to the table. Use the other two first-rounders on wing guys (preferably Henry, Anderson, George, even Hayward).
For trades/FA: 1) Drafting Cousins would allow us to get rid of Al Jefferson. I feel like he’s always gonna be a guy that puts up numbers, but loses because he’s so selfish in his game. Every game I’ve watched, he brings the pace of the game to a standstill- the ball always has to go through him, and he always takes like 15 seconds to back a guy down, despite there being other people open. The wolves would benefit without him- it would allow for better ball movement and a more diverse plan-of-attack. Plus, Love’s just as good and 3-4 years younger. 2) Sign Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson. I know they’ll stock up on wings, but Gay and Johnson are huge talents who can create their own shots and add some offensive firepower to a team that desperately needs it. 3) Add some size down low. We have zero low-post defense.
This summer’s pretty crucial for the Wolves- here’s hoping Mr Kahn doesn’t mess this up.

the I in winParticipantI personall like jefferson a lot but i don’t think his value is very high right now. He has never played on a winning team in his career and is kinda selfish. If they could trade him for a nice wing (danny granger would’ve been great) and draft cousins they would have a good future going forward.

esperanzafleet69Participantthey dont necessarily gotta look for wings in the draft… they got so many options with how much cap space they have available..

NorthernLights666ParticipantKahn won’t select Johnson, they’d take Paul George with their 16th pick if they wanted to select a wing.

morgatilParticipantIf he is around at the 4th spot, you have to take him. Like you said, he would make Jefferson expendable.
Why not trade Jefferson to the Bulls for Deng, Gibson and a pick or 2. Heck, trade him to the Pistons. I am sure they could package a SF or 2 in there that would fit the Wolves needs along with future picks.
I honestly think that Cousins is going to be that guy that if he slides, every gm is gonna think back and say, “wow, we blew it for not taking him (Garnett, Stoudamire, Kobe, Granger).”
How do you pass on the next Boozer/ Zach Randolph that looks like he could have eaten Boozer and Randolph?

HotSnotParticipantIts a good trade … but the problem comes on phillies side. What do you do with Brand and Jefferson on the same frontline. Seems unlikely that would work. They both have the same flaws unless brand is capable of playing away from the basket and hitting the open shot. Defense of that tandem would be questionable aswell. They would be destroyed by LA`s frontline forever. If the goal is to build a championship team for the future it, that would be a mistake in my view.

kauzymotoParticipantI think the best thing the wolves could do is trade down in the draft. My solution would be to trade down with the Warriors, and snag Monta Ellis. The wolves could trade the 4 to the warriors for ellis and the 6. If they need to throw in a guy like Sessions or Gomes, than do that as well. This would give the Wolves a true scoring guard, which they’ve lacked seemingly forever. You could than take the best player available at 6, preferrably a big, since you would be acquiring a proven guard. This seems like a smart move, as Cousins doesn’t do much for me. I’d rather have a true center than another Love/Jefferson clone.
