I think for them they should stay with the 4th pick and get DeMarcus Cousins because if they trade Al & Ramon Sessions and get a great swingman as in Danny Granger. Why? Al because DeMarcus will only play post and so can Al so they need him to go and let Love do his thing and play on the perimeter because his jumper has improved and Cousins can fit in the triangle as like Bynum.

    PG-Jonny Flynn
    SG-Corey Brewer
    SF-Danny Granger
    PF-Kevin Love
    C-DeMarcus Cousins

The Pacers need a low post player like Al because Murphy is always on the perimeter and with an addition with a point guard like Ramon Sessions they could actually go far.

We’re not giving up Granger for Jefferson. We turned down the trade offer earlier in the season and we’ll do it again next season.

Plus with cap room they sign a legit player who can score and defend that’s really there weakness I’m not saying that playoff material because the West is stacked so I say they will finish 9th at best

that was last year..this year its different..u have the 4th pick which will most likely be either cousins or wesley…it makes sense to pick the BPA in cousins..so there is no need for big al…so why not do the trade now and bulk up on the SF position..look at how great this team could be in 2-3 years…

    rubio/flynn
    brewer
    granger/gomes
    love
    cousins….

that is a pretty damn good team right there…even if they trade rubio they can get an upgrade at sg and that is one hell of a team right there..

Realisticly to Get granger i think it would have to be something revolving around Jeff, and Rubio.

    Al Jefferson
    &
    Ricky Rubio

    For

    Danny Granger
    &
    Brandon Rush?

The Pacers are currently over the cap and struggling to afford it’s lease. I can’t see us adding more salary right now.

Jefferson is due to make $13,000,000 next season. Sessions is due to make $3,964,320. Granger is due to make $11,173,202. When you crunch the numbers, the Pacers would be adding an extra $5,791,118 in salary. That just doesn’t make any sense. Not to mention… We’d be trading the face of our franchise.

The Pacers will sit tight for right now. We’ll look to draft a point guard in the 2nd round or add someone cheap via free-agency. We have plenty of expiring contracts… We’ll look to acquire a young point guard by dangling them to teams looking for some cap relief.

Al Jefferson was charged with a DWI, so it is a bit more extensive, but I’m pretty sure this is only his first charge. He has shown remorse for the incident and has been forgiven by most parties. That should not be a heavy issue in any trade scenario.

I agree with you Butler in that that trade doesn’t go down unless some additional players/compensation is thrown in. Granger is one of the top players in the league and only is forgotten b/c he is a Pacer. Personally I think he is a good bit better than Big Al, who is a very ball dominant player. But if Minny can entice them with a PG or picks, I could see that trade going down. It depends on how much the Pacers organization values a guy like Ramon Sessions.

Bird views Granger as our main building block. The fans love him here. He’s the face of our franchise. Bird isn’t giving him up. That’s my point. We’ll be significantly under the cap for the first time in over a decade next summer. The plan is to add another all-star caliber player with Granger or surround him with a few players that’ll get us back into the playoffs.

Bird is big on high character players. Al Jefferson is currently on two years probation for a DWI. Not to mention he hasn’t been the same since tearing his ACL.

You T-Wolves fans can get mad all you want lol. I’m speaking the truth. Bird isn’t going to trade Danny Granger. Granger is one of the best wing players in the NBA. He has *amazing* character, leads, works hard, produces AND… He plays injured. Bird is very high on him and he’s a fan favorite. He’s not going anywhere.

It’d have to be a trade that’s too good to be true in order for Granger to be moved.

I agree, i think the only way they would get Granger is if they included Rubio.

If they got Rubio and Jefferson and had to give up Granger, they’d be trading but they still wouldn’t be building towards a title. If they traded for Rubio an Jefferson and DIDN’T have to give up Granger, theennnn Indiana would be on to something lol.

I live in Minnesota and i would trade Rubio and Jefferson for Granger in a second thats a no brainer imo. Especially since Rubio doesnt want to player for the wolves which no one seems to grasp

Why do you think it matters so much as to whether Rubio wants to play here or not? The Wolves OWN HIS RIGHTS!!
Rubio wants to play in the NBA….. he has to come through the MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES. Why is that so hard for you to figure out? Do you think he’ll stay satisfied playing 20 mn. per game in Barcelona at with half the career earning potential? Good luck with that one.

No way Kahn trades Rubio is going to be part of anything less than a blockbuster deal and I don’t think that will be until next year. Twolves have a bunch of trading pieces and will be able to pull off a couple of deals

There is no way that the wolves snag danny granger by only giving up Big Al and Sessions. Unless the Pacers recently hired Kevin McHale as GM this trade will never happen. I agree completely that if the wolves could trade Rubio and Jefferson for Granger I would do that deal in a second. Granger is a top 10 scorer in this league, he’s still very young and he’s a good guy. Kahn is on such a power trip ever since taking charge of the wolves and he will never trade Rubio. For some reason I truly believe he thinks Rubio is the next MJ. The dude extremely overvalues Rubio and Rubio has no interest in playing in Minnesota so Kahn better get what he can for him now when Rubios value is so high.

The Pacers probably trade Granger straight up for Rubio. Not only because Rubio is a stud but because the Pacers would get substantial cap savings due to pay difference and Rubio not coming over for another year. WIth the savings of Rubio not coming for another year it would allow Pacers cap room to sign Grangers replacement.

Granger and Al Jefferson are basically equal as far as players are concerned. That being said why would the Pacers do that knowing that they would then need to find a small forward to replace Granger with. Not to mention he’s signed to an affordable contract as far as star players are concerned.

The fact is, by the Wolves draft Wes Johnson they would have no need for Granger. The would be drafting a Granger with younger legs and better 3 pt. shooting.

He can’t create his own offense like Granger though and that’s a HUGE difference. It also remains to be seen if he can defend like Granger too.

And I’m not sure he’s a better shooter than Granger either.

Granger can’t be 6-10 and 260 pounds or post up the way Jefferson can let alone rebound like him. So yes… AL Jefferson can create his own shot, probably better than granger… certainly with a higher shooting percentage. You are comparing apples and oranges.

Did you honestly just say Wes Johnson is already better than Danny Granger? Danny Granger is a top 25 player in this league.

No… I wrote he was NOT better than Granger. Granger has the better body, is stronger and can create his own offense off of the dribble better. I also think Granger is the better shooter and defender.
