Tweet of the Night: Chris Kaman
Tweet of the Night goes to Chris Kaman, who sarcastically mimicked Bill Simmons’ tweet from earlier today – which already got some notable heat from Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban – and finished the thought by calling him a douche. If you are a well-known individual, you may want to think twice before bad-mouthing the Mavericks on twitter because Cuban and Kaman will apparently team up to insult you back, and they will insult you back hard. Simmons probably did not expect to hear back in this manner when he initially tweeted his thought.
Kaman, of course, is the new starting (presumably) center of the Mavericks and is among many new players the team has acquired since missing out on Deron Williams in free agency. Along with Kaman, they have also acquired Elton Brand, Darren Collison, Dahntay Jones and O.J. Mayo for a very different look for the start of next season. Simmons may not like the pairing of Kaman and Brand, but the Mavericks have clearly added more talent and could be contenders again in the upcoming season.
Now I feel like going to the store and getting a giant jar of pickles...
Never been a fan of Bill Simmons. His writing style &$#%#&@! me off and I generally disagree with him on most things he says.
I actually like Bill Simmons' writing, he's one of the few writers that doesn't put me asleep, he might be the collumnist version of Skip Bayless, but man he knows how to make his collums interesting, I love to read his NBA collumns.
Hahahaha Humprhies, slapping Kanye with his own song lyrics.
My question is who is a bigger douche between Humphries and Kanye? I would have to say Kris but Kanye isn't far off.
I like Bill Simmons but I also liked him getting owned by Cuban and Kaman. He comes off really arrogant sometimes and his bias for Boston is ridiculous. He's smart, but he thinks he's smarter then he is.
I like writing from posters on this site than Simmons. Douche.
I understand that you guys don't like him, but in all honesty nothing on this forum even touches how great Bill Simmons' work is. He is crazy, delusional, and extremely biased(at least he admits it) but his writing is a true work of art, he gives you humor and insight(although somtimes crazy) at the same time. The first thing I do on ESPN is scroll down a bit to the Grantland window to see if there is an NBA feature of his, he doesn't srite like a boring sports writer, when you read him, you feel like you're reading someone who understands what it's like to be a fan.
Sure he is biased but he never pretended otherwise, his buddy Joe House is also a blast apparently House calls his toilet Andre after how he feels of Blatche's lousy play..... Or at least that is the joke.
Simmons annual draft diary is something I love .... His worst contract pieces are also great.
I understand how he could rub some the wrong way for sure but I enjoy him more than any other comedy cum sportswriter.
Kanye West has the maturity level of an 8 year old. I'm glad Humphries stood up for himself.
Bill Simmons is funny and, as aamir said, he is a good writer. I don't agree with most of his opinions and his bias towards the Celtics is annoying (and I'm a Celtics fan), but his columns are enjoyable to read. I do like to see somebody dis him a little, given the arrogant schtick he puts on in his columns.
And he did write the "Book of Basketball", which is a huge breakdown of Bills top 100 players and lots of other basketball stories. I thought it was really good.
Shouldn't Brand be the starting center for the Mavericks? I mean look I didn't watch many Hornet games last year, but I hear much about Kaman. I would think that Brand is still better than Kaman.
Elton Brand is 6'8''. he is more of a power forward, he can play center based on matchups but being a starting power forward would be awful. Kaman will be the starting Center.
^Kaman was relevent more recently than Brand, he was an All-Star as recently as 2010, where he averaged 19 and 9, he was injured most of the next season, and this past season, he aveaged 13 and 7 for the season, but there was a good 20 game stretch for part of February and March where he averaged 17 and 9. He has a very nice back to the basket post game, and is a big body that can bang down low, he is a very formidable big, but by no means is Brand a scrub either. he averaged 11 and 7 this past season, but at this point coming off the bench is the perfect role for him.
Kaman also doesnt know what defense is and ill be hard pressed to believe any team whose starting C is Kaman and with dirk not playing defense either it should be very interesting. the year the mavs won, Chandler was a great C because he protected the paint so well but even if Kaman has a sudden resurgence of his All star level, it still doesnt hide the fact that he cannot hold his own with the upper echelon teams front line of per say the Lakers, OKC, Celtics, Grizzles or Spurs who have big men that would destroy Dirk and Kaman on a nightly basis and especially in the playoffs when the pace slows down, Dirk and Kaman wont know what hit them.
