Is his contract moveable?

NO

He might as well get comfortable in the city he chose over Portland because he's going to be there for a long time.

Somebody gave me a negative,

Somebody gave me a negative, but who's going to want Turkoglu and the 4 years and $43,800,000 remaining on his contract? Especially after the season he just had? He's overpaid and on the wrong side of 30.

It's possible, but I highly doubt anybody wants that contract. I never thought he'd be a great fit in Portland, but that's where he should've signed. Instead, he ditched the Blazers at the last minute and made the decision to sign with the Raptors because he and his wife liked the city better. I don't feel any sympathy for him now that he wants out.

I agree BB he chose money

I agree BB he chose money over what was a perfect fit for him in Orlando and what could have been a good fit in the blaizers cant really be too mad at him for the decision since his wife wanted it but it was a gamble that turned out bad for him.

Sending him back to Orlando

What about sending him back to Orlando for Rashard Lewis? I mean Lewis was wrecked by Garnett in the playoff series and wasn't able to contain him and someone was talking about it, I don't know who but they were talking about how Turkoglu at 6'10 and his playmaking abilities spreads the floor for Orlando more. Then send Bass to PF, and Turkoglu at SF.

I'm all for pleasing your

I'm all for pleasing your wife, but from a basketball perspective... The Blazers made way more since. They'd just won 54 games the season before, had a very good young nucleus and a great coach. That move made very little basketball sense.

Maybe he should have really

Maybe he should have really thought about where he was going before he signed that massive contract. Either stop your &$#%#&@!ing and enjoy the $$$$ or take a paycut and go to a real contender. When you are a semi-allstar like Turkoglu, you can't have both in free agency. He opted for bills over championships and now hes whining bout that. Man up and live with your decision.

Why would Orlando take him

Why would Orlando take him back at that insane price? They didn't want to sign him for that much before, so why'd they take it back?

Good point, I don't know who

Good point, I don't know who else will take him. Orlando I thought would be the best fit for him because he played the best there.

From what I understood after

From what I understood after just seeing it on ESPN after the Bos-Orl game, he is not asking for a trade. He wants to be outright RELEASED. He said he's talking to his lawyer and doesnt want to go back to Tor. He's not happy with his role, the team situation or the city.

Player and team would have to mutually decide to void his contract.

Should this actually happen, it opens up a whole host of other possibilities to improve Tor's roster this summer. They will be well under the cap again during the richest free agent off season in memory.

Stuck

Turkoglu is stuck with the international-flavored Raptors... I don't think he'll go anywhere for the next 2 seasons...

Turk to ORL

Send Turk + expiring back to Magic for Wince Harder (VC). VC proved to be a loser, a choker at big game and not a fit with the Magic. With the crappy Raptors, VC would lead the team back to picking top 5 for the next two years, which is perfectly fine for a rebuilding Raptors team. :)

Not sure if it's realistic as the Magic GM went public on not liking Turk and said the Blazers dodged a bullet at the beginning of the season.

I never like Turk and paying him over 10 mil a year is insane. Another proof that BC is a crappy GM who liked to overpay every single average player who happened to have a decent season. I don't have much hope for BC though. He sucks. Let's hope he won't screw up again this offseason.

If I am BC, I would try to trade Turk + filler to 76ers for Elton Brand and #2. The 76ers need a shot creator and a real 3 point thread. Turk can provide both.

As Raptors fan, we can only hope Brand would revive his career as a Raptor (half-court player) and I think he's not done yet. He just doesn't fit the 76ers style (running game). The Raptors actually play somewhat half-court and Brand is a thread in the post that can play beside Bargnani. Evan Turner would be great for the Raptors.

Turk asking for release?

Turk would be insane if he's asking to be released. He would be stupid to do that. Raptors can actually suspended him for doing that if he's asking to be released while not willing to give up his money. He would never get another 10 mil a year contract from anyone else. He would be stupid to do that.

Would any GM want to touch this piece of crap if he sucks and asks a team to release him after playing the first season of a 5 year 50 mil+ contract?

A lot of GM wouldn't touch him unless he's willing to take less than MLE.

Not a bad trade, Raptors can get a PF to replace Bosh when he leaves in free agency. And the #2 pick sounds pretty interesting too! But who knows if the Sixers will do it. What kind of trade would need to work out?

Philly Trade

Toronto Trades: Hedo, Derozan, 13th pick

Philly Trades: Brand, #2 pick.

What do you guys think?

I think this is fair because if Derozan had one more year in college, he'd be a top 8 pick this year for sure. So, Philly is getting decent value for dumping Brand's ugly contract.

Thoughts?

To work out a Turk for Brand deal

Turk + Reggie Evans would match Brand's contract.

My ideal trade would be Turk + Evans for Brand + #2. More than likely the Raptors would need to include #13 to make the deal works though.

DeRozan is off the deal

I wouldn't include DeMar DeRozan in the deal and the #13. As bad as Turkoglu, I think he can have some values as he would certainly play better next year (he can't be worse, right?) Turk was better at the end of the season when Bosh was out and the Raptors were trying to sneak into the playoff.

I really hate to see players to demand a trade when he sucks though. If Turk is really asking to go and play like sh*t if he can't be traded. He will certainly be the biggest loser in the history of NBA. Even worse than Wince Harder. At least Wince Harder was good before he demanded a trade, and Rob Babcock was stupid enough not to ship his ass out when his value was high.

Turk is basically a damaged good at this point (not physical, but the image is completely damaged). If Turk truely wants out of Toronto, he better plays like he is worth 8 mil at the beginning of next season. Like what Captain Jack did last year, even though he didn't want to stay with the Warriors, he played to prove his value.

Hedo Turkoglu for Eddy

Hedo Turkoglu for Eddy Curry

Gives Toronto a 2nd chance to add talent in the 2011 FA Class.

News on Truk asking out

I just read more details on the article about Turk wanting out. It looks like the Raptors management screwed up big time and messed with the player.

Turk sounds like he's willing to play hard, so the hope is that in the case if he can't be traded, then he will try to play his best early next season so that the Raptors can get a decent deal.

It showed once again, the Raptors management is not doing a good job of managing a team. I hope to see BC out of Toronto real soon, but then it sounds like he will get an extension. Looks like the Raptors will be a hopeless losing team for the coming years.

Anyway, I have no confidence in BC not to screw up this offseason.

He wasn't used right in his

He wasn't used right in his role for sure just 9 shot attempts a game.
Still thats not the only reason he wants out.
Asking to be released is foolish but how is he on the wrong side of 30 he's 31 years old.
He didn't play much early in his career.

Some other contracts that are bad and long term in the league.

Rashard Lewis, Brand, Baron Davis, Arenas, Maggette, Dasagana Diop, Jose Calderon, Shawn Marion, Varajeo, Mo Williams, Daniel Gibson, Luol Deng, Iguodala, Louis Williams, Rip Hamilton, Charlie Villanueva, Beno Udrih, Emeka Okafor, Francisco Garcia, Andris Biedrins, Marvin Williams, Luke Walton, Jason Maxiell.

How's he on the wrong side of

How's he on the wrong side of 30? He's 31 and still has four years and $43,800,000 left on his contract. He's not getting any better, but his salary is going up. He's on the decline. He's not a young 31. He played four years in Euro League before getting drafted in 2000.

That means his contract is

That means his contract is bad and the last year is a killer esp.
How many guys improve after 30 though?
I think he still has game left, did pretty well in the playoffs last year definately better than Carter.
A change of scenery will help, at least the contract is at 10 mill next year not worse.
They should be able to move him but won't get much.
I'd definately take him over a guy like Rashard Lewis.

It's easier said than done

It's easier said than done... Nobody wants that bad contract, man... And teams don't want to spend money on a guy who's on a decline in his playing years... Hedo must have thought that he's a superstar and that he can go wherever he wants but he needs to know that he himslef got this point and he has to live with it for another 2 seasons...

Gonna have to swap bad

Gonna have to swap bad contracts, I bet the Magic would jump at the chance to dump Rashard Lewis in some kind of deal for him. Same goes for the 76ers with Brand.
Still don't understand the Raptors giving him the contract then he plays just 30 mins a nite and is what the 4th option makes no sense.

Turkoglu is garbage. we knew this before he signed. EJECT.

It was obvious to anyone who watches the league closely that Turkoglu was garbage LAST year. Colangelo turned a 25M expiring Jermaine O'neal into.... Turkoglu, Marcus Banks, etc. what the hell was he thinking??? (we also had an opportunity to trade TJ ford for GERALD WALLACE. we turned that down! I would have done that deal in a heartbeat at the time)

Realistic trade targets which might be good for the Raptors:

- Turkglu +garbage to Washington for Arenas + picks. They don't want him, he has a huge deal, and they have John Wall. Arenas is still a talented player. We can worry about trading Jarret jack / Calderon later. Turkoglu is the biggest problem and he's depreciating rapidly

- Trade him back to Orlando for a combination of Pietrus and Bass. (I was going to say Gortat.. but then I saw that he's signed through 2013/14. YIKES. Pietrus is about as good as Turk right now if you ask me. If nothing else they're smaller contracts.

Teams that MIGHT be dumb enough to take him:

- Minnesota for Gomes and Sessions?

- Memphis, as a replacement for Rudy Gay? Turkoglu for Jaric + garbage

Other trades

Other trades? Turk for

Brand: he looks very washed up and I wouldn't touch his contract with a ten foot pole. This makes the raptors problems worse, not better.

Rashard: RIDICULOUS CONTRACT. if you want him, you would just double our problems from 10M per year to 20M per year. he's in decline. Wouldn't touch this contract with a 50 foot pole. Ryan Anderson was better than him this year.

Curry: New York will NOT do this. They will probably let this expire or get a young player with growth prospects. Remember, Isiah Thomas is no longer their GM
