I have seen enough of this kid to know I’ve seen enough.  No way he should have declared.  He is an undersized four, too slow to gaurd the three.  Even with the 7’4 ws he doesn’t look to have an advantage on the defensive end.  I see him getting pushed out of the block and having to settle for mid range J’s on the other end.  Anyone believe he will thrive in the NBA as an offensive threat, maybe like a Tobias Harris.  Or maybe he will be a plus defender and hustle guy. If you are on board withTrey Lyles in the top ten then please curse me out below.

a huge believer in Lyles. I agree with you that his future is not at the 3. His future is as a stretch 4. He had trouble staying in front of college small forwards, the only reason he didn’t get beat is because of his superior size and the fact that he had two 7 footers behind him protecting the rim. He will not be able to guard the top small forwards in the NBA.

However, he already has much better handles than most of the players will the title of "stretch 4." He will be able to be a better playmaker at the 4 than most power forwards. I think his rebounding will be fine, nothing special, but fine. It will take him anywhere from half a year to two years to get a knockdown NBA 3 point shot, but when he does, he will become a special player in this league.

I don’t think he will be anywhere close to the running for ROY, but in 4 years we will be talking about him being a steal in this draft.

We just saw a team in the NBA finals that ran out either Harrison Barnes or Draymond Green at the 4 spot and in some cases Green played the 5.

There aren’t that many 6’10 260 PFs anymore. Lyles will be fine.

I think he’ll at least be as productive as Markieff Morris.

Undersized no,not in height or length. Top ten talent, once he gets his body right and will shine once he gets extended minutes

They came away from UK practices surprised at how good he was. Some reports said he was as skilled as Towns. He, unfortunately had to play out of position.

Quite a wildcard, he could be the starter alongside drummond…or valanciunas.

Biggest range of the 1st round IMO.

Wildcard indeed, the hardest player trying to project, somtimes i think his game too underwhelm and lack flashiness being lottery pick, other times I’m thinking he could be special and miss match against oposite fours with his nice basketball body and nice foundation of skills, i just didn’t see enough of him and doesn’t know how much tough and competitive he is..,

I like his versatility and feel for the game. Hes not really a stretch 4 right now but has the potential to develop into one. I don’t really put too much stock into his play at Kentucky this year as he was played out of position a lot. He has decent post moves and finishes well around the basket. He makes good reads as the screener on the pick and roll and has a good stroke out to about 17 feet. I think he could work on extending his range a little more and he’ll probably never be a great defender but I see him as a solid NBA player. Where he gets drafted depends on team needs and who’s available. I think Detroit will strongly consider him at 8 and Indiana at 11.

Lyle has star/bust written all over him. I think it really depends on what team he lands with and the coaching staff. His potential is as a stretch four.

I think Lyles is a guy that will be a solid complimentary starter for his career and maybe in his prime could sneak onto an all star team or two, but is best served as your 3rd/4th best player on your team. He has a nice skill set for todays game as a stretch 4 with his ability to face up and should be able to help a team run their offense because he makes smart basketball plays and cuts, is willing to set screens to get his teammates open, and is a good passer for his size. I don’t believe the hype that NY will take him at 4 if they are so in love with him as is being said I think they would trade back for him, but I could see him in play with Detroit, Phoenix, Utah, and Indiana.

He just doesn’t have any defining, signature characteristics that will set him apart from being average.

He’s not particularly explosive, he’s not a great ball-handler, he’s not a great shooter, he’s not a great rebounder, he’s not especially scrappy or tenacious, he doesn’t have great vision, he’s not a great passer…he’s just ok. He looks like three or four guys that are the 8th, 9th, and 10th man on every NBA team.

He’s a JAG. I’m fine with taking him 10-20 or so, but if a GM drafts him between 4 and 8 or 9 or so, he will regret it.

As a prospect, I don’t have a problem with Lyles. He should have a long career as a stretch 4. My problem is only with NBADraft.net who keeps mocking him at 8. No way he goes to Detroit. If he could play the 3, maybe, but Detroit fans well know what putting a 4 at the 3 spot can do for your team.

Aran, PLEASE stop putting Lyles at 8!!!

If he were at another school he would have been a star & a lottery pick… He has excellent size for a 4, he can shot well to about 20 feet & he can put the ball on the floor & get to the rim… He’s not a star NBA player but he’s a solid starter in his mid 20’s… Very nice player & a good get… The NBA Draft produces VERY few starters & 1 to 3 future stars each year…
