LipstickParticipantI don’t watch much college basketball (that doesn’t stop me from making stupid statements) but what keeps him from rising in mock drafts? His size? Defense? He looks like someone I’d be more comfortable drafting than a number of other potential lottery picks.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI asked the same exact question recently…
I don’t see why he isn’t predicted higher in this year’s draft.
Steve Kerr said he reminded him of DJ Augustine. I think that’s selling him short by a lot.

strobox88ParticipantTrey Burke should definitely be the first PG taken off the draft board this year; he’s legit.

Stephen A. BaylessParticipantI think that was a good comparison by Steve Kerr, if you are comparing them both as prospects coming out of college. Their stats, physical attributes and even strengths and weaknesses are almost identical.
Its impossible to tell what will happen once he reaches the NBA because circumstances does play a role. Don’t forget that Augustin as a 21 year old rookie averaged 12 points,4 assist as a bench spark plug while shooting 43% from downtown and 89% from the free throw line. You just never know how things will turn out sometimes, but as a prospect I don’t think the comparison is selling him short.

machu46ParticipantI’m with Kerr honestly. He’s very similar to DJ Augustin, and I don’t mean that as a knock on Burke. I just don’t think he’s going to be an above average starter at the next level. He’s played what, one good half in 3 tourny games so far? This tournament hasn’t changed my perception of him. I think he’s a good fit on a team that needs a PG off the bench to be a potential playoff team. I don’t think he has the potential that Smart or MCW or even McCollum (not sure which spelling it is for CJ) have.
Having said that, this was an epic 2nd half. Kansas kind of imploded, but the shots that Burke hit were crazy.
On a sidenote, this explosion in the second half kinda lets MCW’s 24 point performance yesterday fly a little under the radar because his team was in control of the game from the get-go (mainly due to his play).

Shaquille OatmealParticipantIf I were a Dallas Mavericks fan, I’d definitely be hoping he’s still on the board for their pick around 13 or 14. I think that would be a great fit. Plus, just looking at the teams that will be picking in the lottery, Dallas, Utah, Sacramento, and maybe Detroit (depending on how you feel about Brandon Knight) are the only ones that really need a PG at all. So I think he should still be there for the Mavs. Honestly, though, I would take Trey Burke if I were a team in the top 5. Every time I watch him, I’m blown away. And tonight was a Herculean performance. That’s just the type of player he is.
