I look at the Brooklyn Nets record and it makes me feel really sorry for Brook Lopez.

I think now is a really good time for the Nets to look to trade him and get some picks back in order to start looking at their future. There are teams out there who could do with what Lopez has to offer and help push them into a potential play-off team. He is averaging 20-8-2 and almost 1.5blks per game.

The two teams I think would benefit most would be Boston and Dallas.

Boston: I know they have a lot of PF/C players on the roster, but none with the overall potential of Lopez who could really fit nicely into Stevens system as a go-to scorer for the team. I think the Lopez/Thomas pick ‘n’ roll would be lethal and Smart could run some nice plays with him as well. Lopez is also not a bad passer and reader of the game so I don’t think he would disrupt the offence, not too mention Celtics have a few picks to offer and still an ability to keep hold of some, like the Nets one they currently own.

Dallas: The Mavs need a C and they need a consistent scoring option, Lopez is both. Matthews and Parsons are good players, but they are not consistent enough on a nightly basis to cause problems for other teams. Including Lopez would create more space as he would have to be guarded in the paint and Dallas could spread the floor with the likes of Nowitzki, Parsons, Matthews, Jenkins, Barea and Williams. Where this falls over is the Mavs don’t have their upcoming pick, but could offer Justin Anderson and work to find the Nets some cap relief.

    Outside shots:
Indiana – Still need that 2nd scorer if Monta doesn’t show up, I know we have Turner but Indiana may want to speed up the rebuild.
Washington – Wall, Beal and Lopez would be a hard trio to contain.
Phoenix – Lopez offers a bit more than Chandler and Len IMO.

Something tells me Boston is the last team Brooklyn would want to send Lopez.  It would improve the chances that the Brooklyn pick is 1st overall while sending the talented center to a division rival.

I thought about that, but the way they are going they look like they will end up with one of the worst records in the league with him. Why not at least try get something out of it if you can?

Boston may offer up their two lowest first rounders for him and that way they still have potentially two lottery picks and Brooklyn has something to work with come draft time, they may be able to move up, who knows?

Problem is a lot of the teams with picks or young talent have a decent C and are looking to build not add a 27 year-old hitting his prime.

That’s a fair point and I think out of the teams you mentioned Boston has the best assets.  Brooklyn could use some assets going forward.  If we could package those two draft picks like you said and Lee to make the money work I’d take it.  It would be a win-win getting Lopez and improving our chances at getting Ben Simmons.

I agree re: lopez but they need to wait for the right deal. Hes worth a 1st rounder, top 6 protected.

Theyd really need to hit a homer with that pick.

Bill Simmons is str8 dogging the Nets on Twitter. Its making the franchise look bad.

I don’t believe the Nets would be willing to give Brook Lopez unless they can get a young star or a lottery pick. The Nets do not have a firtst round draft pick this year and they are in a big market that can attract some free agents. If I’m the Nets I would go all out on the rebuild but you don’t have a young player that you can say is your franchise player in the making or they lack draft picks in the future to build a young core.

The Nets are in New York so they should be in the running for the top guys in the league. I can see Demar Derozan consider going there if he opts out of his contract (he should),  Kevin Durant (long shot), Brandon Jennings, Lance Stevenson, and some other players to play with Brook Lopez.

if im the nets im not taking low draft picks or throw in players for brook. Brook is 27 and an all-star caliber big man which is hard to come by. The entire reason you would want to free up cap space or aquire draft picks is so that you could have a chance at aquiring somone like…brook lopez. Plus its not like he is hurting their ability to draft high or rebuild, they suck even with him. Not sure how they benefit by moving him for throw in parts and cap relief.

I doubt the Nets would be willing to deal with the Celtics right now. The league is talking about how the Celtics robbed them for the picks they got from them already. They will want to stay away from any deals that could help the Celtics in the short term. And Brook Lopez would be an upgrade over any big the Celtics have. The trade might help both teams but they still won’t do it becuase its the Celtics.

The Celtics would be quite happy to play the waiting game knowing if Brook is moved the the Nets will get worse and if they did move for Lopez then Danny Ainge would not give back any picks he has due from the Nets I figure which Brooklyn would want in a trade.

Washington is an interesting one, they have Nene on a expiring deal, Brooklyn would likely buy him out and he’d get picked up by a contender. I’d figure that Washington would want to hold onto Porter so maybe a couple of first rounders plus Oubre.

Houston might be an option if they could pair Lopez and D12 in the frontcourt, they have a few pieces they could offer up.

The Pacers would be a nice fit but a lot would depend on if they wanted to try to hang onto Miles Turner or not. They could send a few picks to make the deal doable.

yeah sorry celtics fans. theres no way i would send lopez to boston unless their draft pick comes back to them. yeah straight up he probably isnt worth brooklyns pick. but with some other pieces maybe. then you could definitely start a rebuild. you dont hand them ben simmons as well. unimaginable.
