trade for the number one
I would yes, they need porter or Bennett. Noel is a shot blocker but does not fit plus he's injured.. I would trade to bobcats then take porter or Bennett... OR I would take Noel and hopefully get into top 3 next year to take AG Wiggins or Parker
That would be a bad trade for the Kings. I feel that Cousins although he has a ton of issues is going to be way better than most of the players in this draft. I wouldn't trade Cousins for the number 1 of this draft unless the Kings are convinced he won't resign long term.
You think a Jeff green/Bradley, melo and 16 is too much for number 1, if I were the Celts I'd do it in a heartbeat, either way is a win win, frees more cap without Jeff green and gives us some perimeter scoring, or Bradley only has 2 years tops on his rookie deal, why not get a guy with 5 years left, plus the difference you would get in defense would make up in offense, something the Celts need badly.
Jeff Green came on really strong down the stretch this year. He can easily average 15ppg and play good defense. With Noel coming off knee surgery, weighing only 200lbs and having virtually no offensive game I think it's a stretch.
I could see McLemore a little bit more but he still has question marks too.
The Cav's need a center, preferably a shot blocking center. With that being being said I would take Cousin's in a heart beat despite he is far from a shot blocking center. Zeller led the Cav's in blocked shots per game last year at 0.9 bpg. Yeah a NBA team was led in shots blocked per game by a guy not getting one every game.
We have options, I would trade the pick for Larry Sanders, Javelle McGee, Cousins or even Omar Asik and assets. A Varejao/Asik front court would set records in defensive per 100 possessions stats. The Cav's keep saying they want in the playoffs this year, that a tough order in a scant free agent class and only two spots are up for grabs in any given year anyway. They have cap space and a ton of picks so maybe a trade is the most likely scenario. You can get a free agent wing pretty easily, a center is something you have to trade for. Tiago Splitter is also an option as well as Pekovich.
Gilbert had lots of praise for Josh Smith early in the year when the Hawks played the Cav's. He said was one of if not thy best defender in the League. Then reiterated that the Cav's will be a defensive first team in the future.
McGee only plays like 22 minutes a game for the Nuggets and makes 11 million. If Iggy opts in at 16 million plus Lawsons new deal kicking in they should willing to sell similar skill set for a lower price tag.
What about the number 1 pick, Tristan Thompson, Zeller + a future 1 for Love?
What do y'all think about Clev swapping picks with PHX, and add a couple Vets like Gortat and Dudley?
With the 5th pick, Cleveland can still target Porter or Saric. I think WSH will draft a big in Zeller or Len, and I also think PHX will go big, leaving Porter to fall to the Cavs at 5. Cavs can start Gortat at center alongside either Thompson or Verajo. Im also really high on Saric, who even if he stays over seas for the year, would be nice addition whenever he comes.
PHX- gets #1 pick, and Im sure they'll target Noel to rebuild with. He may sit for the year, or most, giving them shot at a high lotto pick next year.
It's a option and I think if Porter is gone then Dipo is there. PHX is going to have to throw in a top 3 protected one also, they have a bunch of Lakers picks to cover the loss of a one. Maybe the give the Cav's the right to swap picks next year if we swap this year. I know that won't happen because PHX is going to suck, but Grant drives a hard bargain.
cavs dont need gortat, and they have a bunch of picks so they wont be looking for a bunch of guys coming back.
Noel is a pretty good fit in cleveland, because kyrie and dion dont play the best defense and guards will be coming into the lane frequently. He could also play some 3 as a defensive stopper sometimes, espec if zeller can find his touch from midrange.
Thompson showed he can be a decent undersized center if needed.
Let's safely assume the cavs are looking to trade their first overall pick to just get better and make the playoffs. If you were the GM of your favorite franchise, who would you trade to the cavs for that pick and who would you get.
Ill start, Celtics.... dream scenerio obviously, Jeff green, Fab Melo, the number 16 possibly throw in a Sully or Bradley instead of one of the others.
Draft either Mclemore or Noel. Noel for a true center shot blocker we need after KG, Mclemore for a better outside shooting gaurd and slasher we desperately need to pair with rondo. Rondo is more of a drive and dish gaurd, be perfect with Mclemore.
