I have been thinking about this idea for a while with the reports that LaMarcus wants out of the Spurs. So the Idea is that LA12 and Kyle Anderson and future Second round picks for Cody Zeller and MKG. LA12 wouldn’t play many minutes at the 5 so he would be happy.

    Charlotte

1.Kemba 2. Monk 3. Batum 4. LA 5. Howard with Marvin Williams, Lamb, Frank the tank, MCW etc

    Spurs

Parker/Murray, Green, MKG, Kawhi, Pau with Rudy Gay, Mills, Ginobili, Bertans, Zeller and Lauvergne.

That’s funny, I thought of this right after you posted the idea about the same two guys for Melo. I’m a Spurs fan and I would think long and hard about it. Can Cody Zeller swich onto Houston or Golden St.’s guards on a pick & roll, and not get destroyed like LaMarcus did? Or could the Spurs counter the Warriors’ death lineup with a super-small Mills-Green-Kawhi-MKG-Gay unit? Those would be the key questions for me.

I would not give up Kyle Anderson though. I think this is his breakout year. Maybe I’d give up Bertans if Charlotte insisted.

I don’t know why Charlotte would do this, though. They would just get older without becoming a serious contender. They’d be a bit better, but they’re certainly not beating Cleveland with that lineup.

+ 1 from me, a good deal. Swap between two Conferences is always an ideal part of any trade that is met. Charlotte want to try and get back in the play offs as they have bounced in and out in recent seasons. Kemba has two years left on his deal and no doubt MJ would want his best player to stay. They threw big money at Batum and lucked on Malik Monk in the draft. They also traded for D12 so pairing him with LMA would make sense.

The Hornets frontcourt of D12, LMA, Williams and Frank the Tank may look a bit crowded but Zeller has been moved and Marvin can slide to SF for some minutes to cover for MKG’s loss too.

MKG had been improving steadily year on year until his shoulder injury in late 2015 but he returned to play a full season last year and whilst his scoring retreated a bit, he put up solid numbers across the board. When you look at him I can see him being a Gregg Poppovich sort of player due to his hard work and I could see Popps making him a very good all round player. He is still only 23 so should have a good amount of upside.

I like the trade OK. San Antonio really doesn’t need another small forward though. They need center and guards.

I like Aldridge to Utah in return for Derrick Favors and Dante Exum.

I have thought about that trade too. Utah played at the slowest pace last year and that would suit LA. LA would give them a strong scoring presence. I’d also want to wait and see how much Exum has progressed over the summer before doing that deal.

I think they’d rather get off Burks deal before moving Exum.

I wouldn’t come close to making that trade if I were the Spurs. Favors is what he is, which is alright — they could maybe turn him into another Dewayne Dedmon — but Exum’s bust potential is way too high.

Utah would do LMA for Favours, I don’t think they would throw Exum in as well, they would probably add a draft pick if asked.

I cannot think of any other immediate locations for LMA given his salary and the logic he needs to be on a competitive team given his ability and age.
