    Rockets receive Al Jefferson

Jazz Receive Luol Deng and Motiejunas

Bulls Recieve Kevin Martin and Marcus Morris

Rockets find a taker for Kevin Martin while clearing their logjam at power forward, and also bringing in a top 10 player at their weakest position.

Jazz get one of the best defenders at the small forward spot in the league, make room for favors to start at C and pick up a young and very talented seven footer.

Bulls find a reliable scorer who can create his own shot, which is their biggest need. Morris still has athleticism and skill and could turn out nice for them.

This is a trade that as a fan I would like to see happen because I feel that it solves some of these teams problems while also giving younger players an opprtunity to get minutes, most notably Jimmy butler, Jeremy Lamb, and Derrick Favors.

I figured this slow season is a good time for half baked trade ideas. Id like to hear your thoughts, and by all means neg away!

i actually like this trade for every team. but the bulls will be weak at the sf position and im not sure if i would play martin and rip together, both are too thin to play sf.

As a Jazz fan I like this trade, Deng would be a great addition, he’s a good defender, good athlete, decent scorer and  Motiejunas is a talented , young stretch 4 that would be a good addition and needed shooter. Motiejunas would give the Jazz another young big with different but needed skills .  Favors needs to get more PT , his defense is something we can’t afford to not have on the floor and Jefferson although the most consistent scorer the Jazz have is somewhat of a liability defensively  ,with  Big Al’s contract expiring at the end of the season (along with Milsap’s)  Big Al is the player I would try to move .

Nice trade but rip and Kmart are basically the same player, the bulls don’t have a lot of depth at small forward other than jimmy butler who isn’t ready to start

The only reason why the Bulls would want Kevin Martin is for his expiring contract.  He’s not a Bulls/Thibs type player anyways. He’s soft, frail and he’s one of the worst defenders in the league at any position.  They already have one sieve on defense in Boozer, they don’t need another.  The NBA is also in the process of taking a lot of his offense away.  They already took away his rip through move, now they’re supposedly going to start cracking down on flopping. He can probably still score in the teens but he stops the ball and kills the offensive flow to do so.  He’s not a difference maker on offense.  Marcus Morris is just a throw in player.  I think he’ll be out of the league soon since he can’t be successful at either forward position.

    Bulls say no thanks.

The deal does allow the Bulls to shed some weight on the cap as Martin is expecting free agency and Deng has that extra year. This would allow the Bulls to have Dengs 13 mil due in 2014 and potenially amnesty Boozers 15 next Summer. That would allow them to be a player in the 2013 free agency pool. Plus they would suck all around this year with Martin and no Deng or Rose. This adds a good pick to the future mix.

Only problem is that the Bulls are already paying Richard Hamilton and this deal doesnt get rid of that. I need more for Deng. He is in that same caliber of Iggy, Harden, Rudy Gay (think he is the best). They all make 13 to 15 a year. I’m not a huge fan of Deng but he is a legit above average NBA caliber player for his position. Besides that he is well respected and a good guy. Always seems on the market though, I personally don’t think he’s tough enough and I like 3’s that can drive. Kevin Martin is a guy that would be on the trading block for every team in the League. He can play but  I don’t see one coach in the NBA ever saying he’s my guy. Thib’s wouldn’t have a esophagus after two or three games of coaching Martin on defense. Motiejunas looked great in the Summer League and unless Houston is guaranteed to win now (their not, even with Jefferson) should keep him, kid can play. This move also stifles Gordon Hayword and makes Marvin Williams useless.

It is really just a change of scenary trade for guys that all could, should and most likely will be dealt at some point before there deals are done.

    Bulls are not interested!
why the hall they will want to move Deng who is a solid scorer, great allaround and two way player for Kevin Martin a player who is bad influence for the collective game of a team.

i think some people need to realize that clearing cap space is not always a positive thing, it’s good when it’s a bad contract.

Rockets aren’t going to want to part with a young asset like Motiejunas anytime soon

I agree, he’s looked great in summer leaugue and there is a lot of buzz about him. Looks like a player.

That being said, you have to give to get. And Jefferson is a top player at his position, IMO.

Looking at the current rosters, I think this trade makes the Rockets and the Jazz better right now. But it makes the Bulls worse.
