(its been a year since i logged in again dont know if the link works)

    i know this is a bit of a longshot but what if;

    Boston gets:

Whiteside – helps them in the rebounding and rim protection department. plus he fits well with IT and Al (new BIG 3 for C’s). Green – played for Boston before and if given playing time could he could still produce. Although a downgrade (Crowder), he wont hinder the development of Brown. Reed to compensate for the loss of Amir and Zeller.

Orlando gets: (since they would like to compete now)

Dragic – they are trying to acquire him for scoring purposes. Crowder – an upgrade at the SF position. Zeller – serviceable big to come off the bench.

Mia gets: (to speed up the rebuilding process)

Vucevic – not much of a downgrade if they decided to let Whiteside and his big contract go. Gordon (back to PF position), Smart and Young (unlikely)- they still have a lot of potential to offer. and wont hurt the team’s current roster. Johnson – throw in to balance salary, could still contribute or a buy out candidate. of course they would get draft picks in the process especial the BKN pick.

No way a playoff team like Boston throw away half their team in a trade, in particular if that half includes starters like Crowder and several rotation player (Smart, Johnson).

Boston gets a great player in Whiteside but who is not a clear cut starter since the chemistry with Horford is far from obvious and Horford might start over him.

No way Boston agrees. And I am talking even without giving away the BKN pick.

I do understand your point. But if they would want to compete for the title (not just this year), i think they would entertain such scenario, Whiteside is signed long term and bigs like him are a luxury to have.

Regarding the rotation guys, they have Olynyk as their first big and Rozier (for me is better than smart). They might get hurt losing Crowder but they do still have Brown. so their bench wouldn’t suffer that much.

Celtics get either best or second best (Smart?) in that suggestion, but give up much to much……certainly don’t need Jeff Green again

In your trade Miami’s roster going forward would look like:

    PG M. Smart

    SG D. Waiters

    SF J. Winslow

    PF A. Gordon

    C N. Vucevic

That’s a horrible shooting team, it will be good defensively, but Waiters and Smart don’t look like a good fit together, Winslow and Gordon are two offensive liabilities who can’t shoot. That’s not the way you speed up your rebuilding process, they should trade Dragic for someone who fits well with Whiteside and Winslow, then draft a PG and be happy.
