ItsVictorOladipoParticipantJust trying to think of a trade that works for teams involved in Asik talks
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ovk4wqb
Boston – Receives Omer Asik and Donatas Motiejunas. They want Asik and aren’t scared of his contract, Motie is looking for more playing time and might receive it in Beantown. They might also want a 1st rounder from Houston in order to soften the blow of losing Green whom they like.
Houston – Receives Josh Smith and Vitor Faverani. Smith can’t be happy with how things are working out in Detroit, in Houston he gets to play with his good buddy Dwight again and can slide over to PF where he has played better in the past. Faverani gives Houston a backup C that won’t complain about playing time. They might have to part with a 1st rounder to Boston to make this work but I think it would be worth it for them to have a starting lineup of Lin/Harden/Parsons/Smith/Howard with a bench of Brooks, Garcia, Casspi, Jones and Faverani with Beverly expected to be back by mid February.
Detroit – Receives Jeff Green and Greg Smith. Green is a solid shooting SF that will help space the floor for them, a much better fit than Josh Smith and they also save about $5 million per year. Greg Smith will give them a decent young PF/C off the bench once he comes back from his knee sprain.

KHAM83ParticipantNot a bad deal, I think Houston would gladly take Josh Smith’s contract to pair him with Howard. I also think Detroit and Boston will jump on this as well. Though, if I’m Rockets gm, I have a confidential talk with Howard first about playing with Smith. They are buddies ya, but does he have any concerns about controlling him.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantYeah my biggest question was whether Boston would be willing to part with Green (who I think is really underrated and is probably their best player right now) for Asik. But I read a report about a week ago stating that the Celtics were willing to send Green to Cleveland in a package for Asik, so apparently he is considered expendable in such a scenario.
Josh Smith would be a bit of a gamble for Houston but I think it’s a gamble that could pay off in a big way

ChewyParticipantDwight (20+), Smith (14) and Harden (14+) eat up at minimum 48 million of their 58 million under the salary cap. I understand you can go over to resign your guys but basically this move is saying that those 3 players can get me a championship and I just don’t see that happening. Plus it is clearly obvious to everyone that Josh’s 3 pt shooting is the worst part of his game. He won’t space the floor for the Rockets and Dwight.

HitsterParticipantA decent trade idea for a change although to be fair it is from one of the better posters on here. I’d just wonder would Detroit want to move Josh Smith having only signed him last summer but otherwise the deal looks fairly good.

MopgrassParticipantI like Jeff Green a lot. I’m still not sure why the Celtics would want to let him go.
I’m sure Cleveland has at least made an offer: Bynum and some change. Maybe a lot of change. I’d keep Green around though.

GronounoursParticipantI don’t understand why people waste their time making up potential trades that will never materialize. It’s like shouting "my life is so boring" to Nbadraft’s readers.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantThis from a guy who wrote a 500 word post and a 1000 word post (no exaggeration) to start two joke topics…

ItsRainingNegsParticipantI just cannot see Boston trading Green. He has a "make an All-Star team once or twice in his prime" potential which the Celts deaperately need when Rondo comes back.
