ag-pennypackerParticipantThe New Orleans Pelicans trade Ryan Anderson and the Houston Rockets trade Omer Asik. This seems like a trade that would benefit both teams. Ryan Anderson would play very well with Dwight as he did in his Orlando days and Omer Asik would be a true center to play along side Anthony Davis so he doesn’t end up having to play center. I am not really sure how this works as far as the salary cap goes, Asik has a weird backloaded contract where he makes around $5.2 million this season and just under $15 million next season. Anderson makes around $8.5 million for the next three seasons.
This just seems like a deal that should be made and it would benefit both teams barring some kind of salary cap issues.

BasketBalAllanParticipantCause this has never been mentioned before….
Both teams have stated they would not pull the trigger on it.

ag-pennypackerParticipantI guess I need to follow the trade rumors closer. Was there any reason on why they wouldn’t want to do this? It seems to make sense for both sides.

BasketBalAllanParticipanta quick google found this.
“Have it on strong authority Pelicans not only haven’t talked to Rockets about Asik sign-and-trade but likewise have no interest in him”

WITNESS2014ParticipantIt would make a good fit for both teams though.

TyroberParticipantI thought it was a good idea after Dwight signed with Houston, but the more I think about it I like Asik backing up Howard. After watching Miami struggle with Hibbert and Duncan on the floor it really shows you what a 7footer does on the floor. If you constantly keep a defensive minded 7 footer on the floor it completely changes how teams play you instead of having those 15 minutes where your best big guy is on the bench and teams go crazy trying to drive the lane. Having Asik or Howard in the game at all times will wreak havoc on teams offensive game plans.

mike_r232ParticipantI mean… they need to move Asik for SOMEthing, right? I don’t think playing him and Dwight together would be a good idea. And they just signed Camby who can play some backup minutes. I’m surprised that they haven’t tried moving him more aggressively.
