Please read explainations before killing me with negs. You know you have seen worse, when is there ever a good Dwight trade?

Portland gets Dwight Howard (rental), Eric Gordon (RFA), Jarrett Jack, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark.

Orlando gets Chris Kaman (expiring), Gerald Wallace (likely to opt out), Ray Felton (expiring), Greg Oden (expiring) and Portland first rounder/s and three or so second rounders.

New Orleans gets Marcus Camby (expiring), Wesley Matthews, Jameer Nelson, Nolan Smith.

    Explanations:

Orlando still makes the playoffs this year gets lots of cap space and gets a ton of future draft picks.

New Orleans gets a beter point guard who can help this team more than Jarrett Jack, a good back up PG because Greivis Vasques isn’t very good. Wesley Matthews who would be cheeper resigning than Eric Gordon (would Gordon want to be on a rebuilding team again anyway) and will produce similar stats. I also have marcus coming here and Kaman leaving because I’d think that Orlando would rather Kaman.

Portland get 1 shot at getting as far as they can, potentially the finals then lose some draft picks and Howard (to free agency).

I read your explanations and I’m not going to neg you but not because it’s a good trade. Eric Gordon was the key piece in a trade for Chris Paul. They aren’t trading him for score first jameer nelson, and while what you say about Wes Matthews makes some sense, Matthews is just a complimentary piece that isn’t going to make them better. Orlando basically gets a first and some second rounders. Like you said most of those guys would probably be gone at the end of the year. Portland trades a bunch of good pieces for half a year of Dwight also is not going to happen. Portland is a small market that continues to make smart decisions to keep their team competitive. This isn’t smart.

    Orlando

Yes, Orlando still makes the playoff with this trade and most likely won’t get past the first round, however why would they want that when they are basically going into re-building mode by trading Howard for the pieces you suggested.

Then by your logic Orlando get a bunch of cap space to sign free agents; however what superstar/all star caliber player is going to want to come to Orlando? And on top of that they have a bunch of mid round picks to look forward to for the next couple of years courtesy of Portland, not forgetting watching Greg Oden sit on the bench.

    Orlando’s Future – The Pistons.

    Hornets

What makes you think Jammer Nelson can help out a team better than Jarrett Jack? They’re both solid PG which aren’t really all-star players, but get the job done. As bad as you make think Vasquez is, he’s more proven than Nolan Smith and a better player at this stage as a backup PG.

Why would the Hornets trade one of their biggest pieces in the CP3 trade if not the biggest piece? Eric Gordon has the chance to be the No.1 option for the Hornets and be their franchise player. Also, you do realize that he was perfectly happy with the Clippers before the trade happened and the clippers are technically before getting CP3 where still considered a rebuilding team, albeit a very good one.

As for Kaman/Camby, if I’m the magic I want Camby a veteran player who will retire soon, but until he does will be happy to sign on a yearly basis and be a good role model for up and coming and players. So with Camby they at least get the option to keep him. Whilst Kaman most likely will be looking for a 4/5 year contract being paid silly (just have to look at this year’s free agency). So it doesn’t make sense to get Kaman, unless magic want to be in that 6/7/8 seed for the foreseeable future.

    Portland

So Portland a team which can on any given day beat anyone, is going to trade away their last two years of hard work in free agency/trading for one chance at getting a championship and then go into rebuilding mode, makes no sense?

However, your trade idea makes Portland get both Dwight and Gordon, which is if they can convince to stay is a steal beyond steals. But then again your trade is biased towards Portland which is expected. You’re basically implying that Wallace/Camby for Howard/Gordon is a fair trade? (If Jack=Felton, and Greg Oden can’t be taken seriously till he plays).

So in general your trade sucks. Why? Because you’re biased towards Portland and your reasoning makes no sense. Your right this trade isn’t the worst I’ve seen involving Howard, but its right at the bottom with them.

I somehow have a sneaking suspision Dwight will end up going to LAL in a last minute deal before the trade deadline.

Portland would not blow up the team to rent Dwight Howard. Not to mention, he could even stay with LaMarcus Aldridge and Eric Gordon on board. But, there is no way New Orleans or Orlando do this deal. This is quite obviously wishful thinking. I am a Blazers fan as well, but this trade is not going to happen in the least. New Orleans is not going to give up Gordon, especially not to a Blazers team that would be acquiring Dwight Howard. As soon as someone says "Trade Idea", you tend to think insanity, but this is one of the crazier ones I have seen in a while.

it may be one of the better deals orlando can get. but it would only make sense for portland if dwight stays there. and it would make no sense for new orleans. they would basicly get jameer nelson and matthews for eric gordon. i like both of those players but not in a trade for eric gordon!

Being a Portland fan I am dissapointed in you for not realizing that our team right now is a contender in the west, with age catching up to most of the perrennial playoff teams already, and this being a shortened season where the age really shows becuase of all the back to backs and road trips. Our guys are younger or in the prime of their careers right now and although we need another bigman we are pretty deep as well and that is what matters in a season like this keeping guys fresh and injury free while other teams take a pounding this year come playoff time we will be one of the favorites in the West with OKC and maybe LAC and though we have struggled with a three game losing streak trading away 4 of our starters and our picks for a shot this year would be a bad idea.

A trade I think would be prudent is to get a big man, maybe D.J White from Charlotte or Jason Thompson from the Kings would be great moves and probably cheap then there is Robin Lopez who would be the best fit and still realistic because of Pheonix’s depth coupled with the emergence of Markieff Morris. I would give up a 1st rounder for him, his rebounding and post presence would mesh well with LaMarcus’ style.
