Memphis trades Zach Randolph and Greveis Vasquez to Detroit for Tayshawn Prince, Jason Maxiell, and Rodney Stuckey.

It appears as though Randolph is not a part of the Grizzlies future so trading him is better than letting him go for nothing.  For Memphis, this trade would do several things: one, acquiring Prince would finally give the Grizzlies a reliable backup for Rudy Gay and the two could even share time together on the floor when the Grizzlies want to go big or small. Two, just as Prince would solve the Grizzlies backup small forward position, Stuckey would give Memphis the backup point guard they haven’t had since Kyle Lowry was in town.  Three, by having Randolph leave, Marc Gasol would finally get the offensive touches he deserves as well as O.J. Mayo.  Finally, the team would officially be (if it hasn’t already happened yet) Rudy Gay’s team to lead.

Now on the Detroit side, this trade would give the Pistons a good low-post score they have been lacking this year.  Also, the trade would help reignite spark and interest in Pistons basketball.  Rodney Stuckey has not gotten along with Coach Kuester so a change of scenery would be a welcome to both parties.  The starting PG position would most likely go to Ben Gordon with McGrady and Hamilton being the main distributors on the floor.  Vasquez would then be groomed to potentially become the starting PG of the future.

All in all this trade benefits both sides in terms of the present and the future.

Memphis would be back in the top 5 of the Lottery if they get rid of Randolph..Teams prepare more for him & Gasol more than Gay & Mayo..Randolph has said he’s willing to take a paycut in order to remain there..Plus his teammates and the community love him…They made a mistake by signing Conley so early..

Z-Bo has said he’s willing to have his pay cut down to the 12 or 14 million a year range to remain in Memphis….

Its going to be interesting becuz they also have to sign Gasol next summer…Will Gasol say he’s a top 10 center and he should be getting what Horford and Noah received?
