ag-pennypackerParticipantSince it doesn’t look like the Spurs are going to be able to sign Tiago Splitter this offseason why can’t they do a sign and trade? Something like Tony Parker and Tiago Splitter for Andrew Bynum. That way they could start George Hill at point and drop Richard Jefferson after the season and start rebuilding. The Lakers have needed a good point guard for a while and I know Bynum is a good player but he has been often injured so far in his pro career and Splitter is suppose to be the best center in Europe. Let me know what you guys think.

ag-pennypackerParticipantThe key phrase is sign and trade. Splitter could be signed to a contract this way before he is moved. The reason the Spurs probably will not be able to sign him this season is because they can only offer a mid level exception and Splitter makes more than that in Europe right now. However if they sign and trade him they should be able to offer him a better deal I believe.

juves4783Participanttiago’s nba contract is non-negotiable because he was drafted in the 1st round and it’s a guaranteed rookie scale contract. so if he doesn’t want to sign with the spurs, he won’t with the lakers either.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThe Lakers would be Big Fools for trading Bynum..Despite being bothered with injuries the past few seasons..He’s 1 of the few true centers left in the league..And it doesnt seem to be any coming along anytime soon..Plus during Phil Jackson’s entire coaching career ..He’s never had a traditional point guard run the team…It’s way too early to crown George Hill an Allstar just yet…Give Coach Pop some respect he knows how to motivate his players..He talks to Duncan like he talks to Bonner when they’re not playing well..

delfamParticipantTrading Bynum would be stupid, as that would move Gasol to Center where I don’t think he’d excel at.

DNYCEWe will trade Bynum this offseason for Chris Bosh in a sign and trade. Gasol is better as a center than he is PF. Gasol plays with his back to the basket. If you knew basketball you would know this. We don’t even play Bynum in crunch time we play Odom at the 4 and Gasol at the 5. We don’t need Bynum.
Lakers team next year
Fisher or Brown/Jon Scheyer/Jerome Randle or Devan Downey
Kobe/Sasha
Artest/Walton
Bosh/Odom(He will play more backup at SF next season)/Powell or Chinemelu Elonu

Charlie SheenParticipantI Like Splitter they could get good value for him if they are unable to sign him but sending him to LA is out of the question. if you recall they lost the 2008 finals because Gasol couldnt bang with a strong Center. Howard, Perkins, possibly STAT movin out East would destroy Gasol again. so they keep Bynum if anythin they look to get a PG like Felton who’s on the market, let Shannon Brown play the point or try and trade for Ramon Sessions who played in the triangle this season. but thats the only move they need plus a shooter

DNYCEGasol could bang with Perkins, We had scrubs like Radmonobitch and Luke Walton getting big minutes in those finals thats not the case anymore, we didn’t have Bynum or Ariza(Pierce Finals MVP?) he had scrubs guarding him. Gasol and Bosh is the future deal with it haters.

Charlie SheenParticipantI could see them dealing Gasol for Bosh since Toronto might look to go with and international flavor I even see Steve Nash going to Toronto to end his career and try to win a title for his home country which wont happen but a Nash, Belinelli, Turk, Gasol, Bargnani libe up wouldn’t look bad

juves4783Participanttrading bynam to the spurs is a horrible idea. bynam and gasol are working everyone else over on the offensive boards this playoffs. every time gasol gets doubled in the post, it’s an automatic 2 for bynam. you think that the lakers would allow for their conference rival to have that ability with bynam and duncan. probably not.
and bosh to the lakers is not going to happen. bosh wants to be a featured player, not 3rd fiddle to kobe and pau.
i agree with the dude above. lakers need to focus on getting a pg and a shooter. +1.

DNYCEIm ok with trading Gasol as well, but I think its unlikely since there is a huge Spanish community in LA lol, but Bosh is coming to the Lakers and that’s point im trying to make. Either way we are going to be problems for any team out there

sacphil_08ParticipantDNYCE you are trippin. Bosh will either go to Houston or Miami…. Definitley not LA. Juves4783 is definitely right he wants to be the go to option with a team that has better pieces around him than Toronto. Laker fans come up with all kinds if crazy ideas I tell you…

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantDNYCE is a fool.
Anyway, The trade would be a bad idea. The Spurs still own some rights for Spiltter and could move him but maybe for a future 1st? Manu and Duncan aren’t getting any younger.

llperezas a laker fan, i dont know why everyone is acting like they should trade bynum. I wouldnt take parker over bynum at all. Parker is a pg and pgs never have the same impact in the triangle. A center who bangs and cleans the boards and allows pau to play pf’s is much more valuable. And to the the guy who started this thread, what do you mean just drop richard jefferson after the season? Is this the NFL now?

delfamParticipantWhy would the Lakers trade Pau or Bynum, they seem to have good chemistry and compliment each other perfectly. I agree on trying to get Ramon Sessions as the Timberwolves have Flynn and Rubio.
