keep the hating down, we are here to talk basketball. i ask players respect each others words and let's all have some fun. here are what i think are the top 5 toughest teams in the nba this upcoming year.
#1. ( or #2 ) the ( celtics ) look much more difficult this upcoming season. if they get glen back and the addition of sheed, this team is very strong in big men. with perkins and garnett starting, they have sheed, powe and glen to back them up. I expect rondo to gamble on his jumpshots more. he has amost perfected the driving ability of his. pierce and allen are gonna be really hungry for more. garnett will act like he has rabies and taunt players again. - i expect them to reach the finals, if they're healthy...... this almost looks like the team to beat, and no, i am not a boston fan.
#2. ( or #1 ) ( lakers ) with pau being much stronger now and bynum going to be back to 100%, the lakers will finally look very strong for big men. the problem is, if they're unable to resign odom, they will have alot of trouble repeating...but they will go very far....who knows..even without odom..they could probably make it to the finals...but can they really win without the guy?
#3. ( spurs ) ohhhhh no. just when they looked a bit human and as if age had finally caught them...they get richard jefferson, blair, and mcdysse. with parker now entering his prime, and ginobli being healthy....and rest for ginobli and tuncan....this team may very well be the team to beat.
#4. ( orlando ) with howard most likely building to become stronger and working on his free throws...he should be even more interesting next year. hopefully he doesn't forget to learn more post moves in the summer. getting vince carter and anderson was a nice move. nelson must fully recover...and stay healthy...if he goes down...alston isn't there to help howard and lewis carry the team... how bad does this damage the depth if orlando doesn't match dallas with gortat? will they match gortat? if not...who are they going to get to fill the big man holes.... i see this team making east conference finals...but to go further....it's going to be very...very hard...if they don't add depth.
#5. ( cleveland ) you can't deny how good lebron is. but he can't do it by himself. shaq will play another mediocre season. big z as a backup and if the cavs can resign varejao...good for them. there's still alotta work for this team to even be considered a top 3 team threat. sorry clevland fans...depth doesn't look too great and d-west and mo need to play better and not disapear against the better teams again.
switch lakers and celtics and I agree completley.
So the tough teams are the ones that probably make it to the conference finals. Thought it would be the ones like the Thunder and such.
yo man, i don't know if i can put the c's at 2. it's not hating on the lakers. but the c's got sheed. and rondo will be much better. this teams mentality is going to shoot sky rocketing high.
the lakers have a great chance of repeating. but if garnett was healthy..we may have had a different 08-09
I'm with Perez. If Lakers sign Odem, they are team to beat. Celtics will be very good as will Spurs, but Lakers should be "seeded #1" right now as defending champs who have added a very valuable weapon (Artest).
i see the point and it is a very strong point. if the lakers can get odom, i think they deserve #1. but as of right now, they don't have him, and garnett will be healthy and they picked up sheed and most likely be able to get davis back.
I heard Big Baby might be headed to Detroit.
I can see it going either way. But with the Lakers, Fisher is the only guy on his way down. Brown and Farmar will back him up. But other then the pg spot, you have Kobe, Gasol, Artest, Odom, Bynum, as well as some solid bench guys like Walton and Vujacic. Don't sleep on a healthy Bynum or Kobe's drive to repeat and help seal his legacy.
Just as Lakers don't have Odem, Celtics don't have Davis. And I would take Odem over Davis. Also Odem is the more likely of the 2 to re-sign with old team.
i changed it to say #1 or 2 for the celtics and #2 or 1 for the lakers. perez and maravich made strong interesting points.
the question to me is, does kobe's desire and love for the game outway the mentality of the celtics to achieve another? garnett take the game serious...but it doesn't look on the same level as kobe.
i guess we'll have to wait and see if the celtics get davis and if the lakers get odom
I think Kobe's will went a long way towards Lakers title. Time will tell how hungry he will be next time around. Any word on Garnett's recovery? Is he 100%?
I Totally Agree......The Celtics are finals Bound "If " yes everyone "If" They Stay Healthy !
