OFF TOPIC...HOW MANY PEOPLE ON HERE HAVE PERFECT POST..NO GRAMMAR ERRORS????

i ask because tezo83 made a point to tell me to him i must be a middle schooler because of my misspelled words in some of my posts (as well as saying he has played more basketball in a month then i have in my whole career)...so im wondering how many people on here have had a post that was perfect..nothing misspelled every comma period ever word used correctly???......personally i could care less how ya'll write as long as i can understand what you are trying to say nor do i base youre intelligence on how you write things on here because i know ya'll are on here for fun and to talk about basketball and arent really concentrating on grammar when you type..but that may just be me..maybe there are others on here like tezo who really care about youre grammar.

Let it go man, I see dude

Let it go man, I see dude must have struck a nerve man with your. It aint that serious. You questioned his knowledge he came back at you. That was all i saw. I doubt he knows you and was calling you out other how you came at you. Most people on here mistype stuff. It happens. Even smart people use spell check.

I have plenty

of post where I don't make any type of error, just the way I was taught and it's much easier for me to just go regular since I am a very fast typer.

Who Cares

Honestly i have enough errors, but me its the way i talk to people on the net is way different from the way i talk to people outside, and the way i type assignments and stuff......its just the way people are normally use to using the net.....like sometimes i might spell you....like "Yu"......its a faster way i talk to my friends, and they don't really mind, so i don't know why some of you guys are being asses about this and like WildDude Said the "facts Are important".....this isn't english class so chill !

I for one

Think this is quite on topic. I think grammar should be a lot more important. I know this is a message board, and people seem to hate reading (words) but if people that posted on here had better grammar, it would do wonders. When someone abbreviates in a way that makes little to no sense, write words that do not in any way portain to their intended definition and just use caps lock, it just makes them seem like they have no idea what they are talking about. I think if people here put more thought into posting than in upping their post count, it would do a lot for the quality of this already solid message board. Huestis, I do not think you are a middle schooler, but I remember you saying that you were going to "check the site every once and a while for ridiculous posts." Well, I believe your grammar has made many of those posts your own, and that is just talking as a person who would like to hear your ideas without having to use a Cambodian to English dictionary. Honestly, I think people here are passionate about basketball, and using colloquialisms or basketball jargon is totally fine, but posting sentences that are unintelligle makes me question what this person is trying to say. I honestly hope people agree with me, and as I know many of you hear do not have a life, yet are incredibly busy (sort of kidding, lol), maybe they will take more stock in what they post on here.

I agree with mikeyvthedon

Every other message board I have been to people are always getting on other people for grammar or for having the first letter in every word capitalized, about 2 or 3 people do that here and it is annoying. A misspelled word is fine with me, but considering that there is a spell check continually running whenever you are typing means you could try to correct some errors.

I also use to have a bad habit of following a sentence with a ........ and then starting another one. However, I have dropped that bad habit.

Yeah

I think I got 500 points for winning. But just because I won doesn't mean I know more than the next guy, I got very lucky getting the last two picks right in the second round. Plus, I got the scoop about the Carroll guarantee from Knicksboy. With that said, I still know my basketball. I've been playing, watching, and following the game for 15 years.

I'm pretty sure other people received points based on their final ranking in the contest as well.

I use the "...." too much

I use the "...." too much too.... but I think that the "...." is appropriate for message boards, blogs, etc because we're not always going be connecting complete thoughts into lengthy paragraphs. I think it also helps create space between two separate ideas.

About the grammar, I definitely do my best to be as grammatically correct as possible, but everyone makes mistakes. That, and I didn't really ever learn grammar until I took foreign language class because when I went to K-12, grammar was too rigid and structured for the young, creative mind. Stupid school board.

The way that you write DOES reflect on you as a person. If you write in all caps, it begs the question, why is that person writing in all caps? Do they just lack confidence in what they're saying and feel that putting it in caps will strengthen their view? Are they just trying to get attention?

And in the same sense, if you have a boat-load of grammatical errors, it shows that you didn't really take the time to think about what you were saying. You didn't question yourself in the least, you just wrote off the top of your head and then clicked post. You can tell when someone just wrote something and didn't really think twice about it.

One of my pet peeves is one HUGE paragraph with no commas, especially one that covers 10 different ideas! I can't understand that!

I don't care if people don't use good grammar, it just means that sometimes I don't understand what they're saying, or just don't read what they have to say at all. And like I said before, you can tell a lot about people just by seeing what they type... On the message board, you're only what you say (type).

Grammar is Important - MikeYvtheDon

I agree with mikeyvthedon, grammar is important. This may be a basketball website, but if you can't understand what the person is saying, it ruins everything. As for Josh Huestis, both his grammar and spelling are atrocious, making it very difficult to understand what he's trying to say. And I used the word "trying" deliberately because I often give up trying to figure out his arguments on those semi literate posts.

This has nothing to do with subject matter. Whether you agree or disagree with someone is a separate issue. However, if you can't figure out what they're trying to say, it ruins the entire point of internet communication.

LOL!!! That was my whole point when Josh Huestis and I started this. I can understand a mispelled word here and there, but you literally can't understand some of the stuff he's trying to say. Keep in mind that this is a dude who says he graduated high school, college and is now playing overseas. At this point, I'm not willing to believe he even graduated middle school. xbadgerhustler is on point w/ what he said. I agree 100%.

What's even more funny is he's the one who started this post to try and prove that grammar is somehow unimportant! LOL looks like it backfired!!!

I'm a big user of the "..." too lol. I accidentally did that in an essay I had to write in college once and the professor called me out in front of the whole class.

Tezo83 is on the money

Great commentsTezo83. It's hard to understand why he would make grammar an issue unless he has no clue about how poorly he writes. You were right on the money when you said readers literally cannot understand what he's trying to say. It's almost mind boggling.

Once again, let me point out this has nothing to do with one's point of view. However, you have to understand what a person's argument is before you can agree or disagree.

RTBT, the real question

Hey xbadgerhustler,

1. Yes I have memorized the grammar rule book. [LOL]

2. I don't expect everyone to write like a college professor. But if it gets to the point where you literally cannot understand the person, it is a legitimate issue. That's why I agreed with Tezo83's comments.

3. There are so many threads in this forum that have nothing to do with the NBA Draft that I gave up trying to point them out.

As a matter of fact, now that the 2009 draft is over, being off topic doesn't seem so bad. However, just prior to the draft I wanted to read about pertinent draft related topics. I didn't want to read about the top 50 players in NBA history or who the top 5 centers were. It's very interesting material but it belongs in the NBA forum.

ths thing is till

ths thing is till up..lol..actually i remember the arguement tezo you answered everything he wrote so obviosuly you understood it..after reading over what both of yall wrote he had some misspelled stuff but each thing he wrote i knew what he was talking about and so did you so which parts that you say you litrally couldnt understand?..if you couldnt understand what he was saying doesnt that mean you wouldnt havebeen able to answer what he wrote?..what you are doing now is sinsationalizing what youre point was before which was spelling..you never stated you had a problem reading what was written and you obviously didnt because you answered youre problem with it was the grammar..so why now are you trying to say you couldnt understand what he was saying when in reality you could???..and from what i read on here the majority of the people agree with the orginal topic which was as long as you can understand what the person is trying to say....am i wrong?

jakarii33, read his other posts

jakarii33, you are referring to the first post in this thread which was remarkably well written for JH. However, if you review this website and the hundreds of posts by Josh Heustis, you will find most of them were unintelligible. Those are the posts we were referring to, we are not judging him on this one little submission.

Jakarrii33, you wrote, "from what i read on here the majority of the people agree with the orginal topic which was as long as you can understand what the person is trying to say....am i wrong?"

If you actually take the time to read the hundreds of posts he made on this website, you will see that we couldn't understand what he was writing. So in that regard you were wrong.

ive read his and everyones

ive read his and everyones other post..i see misspelled words used wrong in everyones post do i care..nope as long as i can read it..and obviously no one else really does because they answer the topic. as long as i can understand what someone is saying i dont care...its pretty petty to come on a basketball site and nit pick on things like this...it either shows peopel are anal or very very bored with nothing better to do...there was a guy awhile back whos english was pretty bad but i could understand what he was trying to say so i didnt get on him about it....im mean really does it really matter that much to you?..is it really that important to you..does it effect youre day?..i mean everyone makes mistakes and misspells stuff on here but they feel how much they do it is the limit and if someone does it more then its not right..lol..i mean really?

If you have no problem understanding his posts, than that's all that matters. I personally have a hard time understanding what you say in your posts, but I don't make an issue out of it. The big difference is the fact that JH himself made an issue of his grammar in this thread, so we aren't nit picking. We're simply responding to his thread and that's why we have websites like this, to read and respond to the thoughts of others.

And since you asked, I randomly searched another thread for a JH post and here it is. Maybe you can understand what he's saying but I certainly cannot. If a message requires a translation from a third party, it is useless.

that makes no sense..yue

that makes no sense..yue hasnt shown he can oplay int he leauge yet morrison was injured and when he wasnt he wasnt that good...powell is a shooting pf and cant check centers..centers also wear odom out..the back up five will pretty much be the same..brown and farmar..sasha luke walton odom and gasol will stay out or bynum..powell will play a lil as usual prob less now that ron is here and can fill in at the pf..personally i hope that yue and morrison play liek everyone hoped they could be before they were drafted but so far there isnt any eveidence or reports of that happening

the post was made only

the post was made only because i called out tezo for his comment about him playing more basketball in a month then in my life...the gramma thing never came up untill after i showed that the playing more basketball player was incorrect...now after i called him out on that thats when he all of a sudden had a problem with grammar...hes posted things after me and answered a couple of my post before with no problems but after i called him out is when he brought all the grammar stuff up....kinda like you get in a disagreement with someone you been talking with for awhile and they make a comment about making more money then you then you show you make twice as much as them so they decide to say " well youre shoes are jumpmans and mine are jordans"...there was never a issue with the person about it untill you called him out

I think everyone is making

I think everyone is making too much out of this. Doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me. Personally I have no trouble reading comments that Josh types.
