Off Topic - Usain Bolt
Fastest man in history, that guy is a f*cking GOD
Personal best from Blake and he still has to settle for a silver.
It's not like Bolt trains harder, or has a better technique, or wants it more. All of these guys work their butts off and train every day...... heck, Usain Bolt is criticized for partying too much. And yet he still beats everyone.
All of it simply due to Bolt being born with a better body for sprinting than Blake. Nobody should put too much emphasis on the losses.
Especially Gay. He ran his heart out and he works just as hard, if not HARDER, than anyone else there. He had to overcome a lot of obstacles and injuries these other guys did not have to overcome... and he puts up his best run of the season.. and still comes in at 4th place.
Natural born talent reigns supreme. You can't replace it.
There's nothing wrong with Bolt partying from time to time, he just wants to have fun like everyone else. And he definitely trains hard. You can't be born the fastest man in the world, it takes hard work, even if you have the perfect body for sprinting.
Only event of the Olympics I've cared to watch. He's an absolute freak.
Bolt is the fastest man ever.. But I still don't see him being drafted in 2013.
the crazy thing about Bolt is that he doesn't even look like he's running that fast. He's like 6'5' and has those long strides that chew up the track. He probably doesn;t work as hard as Tyson Gay, but he's just an athletic freak who likes to have fun also.
Not that I am at all discrediting the hard work and time these sprinters put in to perfecting their craft, but does anybody else LeBron could contend with some of these guys in the 100 m. Since we're on the topic of natural born talent, I just think leBron with his out-of-this-world athleticism and height advantage could actually be close. He may not reach the podium, but I could definitely see him running a sub 10 second run which is good enough to make the event finals. what do you guys think, am I overestimating his sheer athleticism?
Lebron is an athlete who doesn't even seem to have limits, but I'd honestly be surprised if he could run the 100m dash in under 10.9 seconds right now, so the idea of him running a sub-10 second 100m dash is far-fetched. Reggie Bush runs a 10.4 100m dash and there's no way lebron is as fast as he is at his size.
Lebron's stride is too long to be a great 100 M runner. He takes too long to get up to full speed and world class sprinters would jump out to a big lead off the gate.
If I had to pick an event or two for Lebron, it'd be high jump and triple jump. Maybe javelin.
The crazy thing about him is he is not even a 100m runner his optimum distance is a little over 200m probably
He is beast. I don't think his world record will be broken for at least a couple of decades. If you told someone 20 years ago that someone would eventually run under 9.6 seconds you would be called nuts.
And i just noticed today, How crazily awesome would it be for Yohan Blake to give football a try. He is built like a tank at 21. He is pretty much the perfect running back! (apart from the fact he has never put on pads on in his life)
i was thinking the same thing about Blake playing football too, a lot of these track sprinters are built like tanks and have obviousely sprinter speed such as Powell, Gatlin and Ryan Bailey. Ryan Bailey especially hes 6'4 220 lbs wow.
Wow i just looked at Gatlins profile and while he was banned from track for 4 years he tried out for the tampa bay bucs but didnt make the team: his measurables were "4.45 and 4.42 in the 40-yard dash. Had a 40 ½-inch vertical jump, 11-foot (3.4 m) broad jump, 4.4 short shuttle and 7.36 cone drill and 12 reps in the bench press." He claimed the reason he didnt make it was because coaches saw him as a "track guy".
I think Lebron probably could run sub-10 seconds, but only if he dropped a lot of that extra weight and trained for sprinting specifically, he's already a freakish combination of strength and speed, imagine if he just focused on speed?
There are a few NBA players I'd love to see run the 100m; Wall, Westbrook, Rose and Beaubois pre-injury. Wall especially would be insanely fast I think, dude has ridiculous speed.
i have heard Tony Wroten actually ran a sprint and did it well like 10.3 so he might belong to the Olympics it's pretty sick..
talking abiut Bolt only NOW everyone are saying how his body is freak of nature but before 2008 when he started his miracles everyone said he was too tall too big his start was too slow..and man, overall scientists said it before than 9.6 was the best human can do
Some NBA players would be able to maybe run a 10-11 second 100 metres, if Tony Wrotten did do 10.3 but I would have thought the quicker guys would have been the NFL receivers.
Can people remember in the old days when Olympic sprinters/hurdlers used to move to the NFL for a career, Jim Hines was the first man to break 10 seconds for 100 metres at the Mexico Olympics where he won the gold medal and was drafted in the 6th round of NFL draft earlier that year. But despite being an athletic legend he could not catch the football and was known as "Ooops".
Renaldo Nehemiah the first man to run under 13 seconds in 110 metre hurdles played a couple of years for the 49ers and was on their 1984 Super Bowl winning team before returning to athletics.
Ron Brown and Sam Graddy who were both behind the great Carl Lewis in the 1984 Olympics 100 metres and who also won relay golds both went onto have NFL careers and in Brown's case quite a decent one playing for 7 or 8 seasons.
Haha why all the -1's... It was just a joke.. He is obviously an incredible and gifted athlete.
Haha thank you. I never said lebron would flat out beat anyone but rather be competitive. I even made sure to credit the runners on their hard training that they put towards this. I was just wondering if some others felt the same or if I was overestimating his ability as an athlete. Cut me some slack guys.
