JM40ParticipantWhat does everyone think about these top prospects playing these positions in the league? The examples are players that played a similar role, not necessarily a talent comparison.
Andrew Wiggins-SG (Kinda like a big “2”, i.e Stephen Jackson or Joe Johnson)
Kyle Anderson-PG (I hate to go there…….but kinda like Magic Johnson)
Doug McDermott-SG (Similar to Mike Miller or Wally Szczerbiak)
Zach LaVine-PG (Big PG like Greivis Vasquez or Shaun Livingston)
Noah Vonleh-SF (Big 3/4 with a great shot, a la Rashard Lewis)
Aaron Gordon-SF (Rugged, athletic 3 like Caron Butler or Shawn Marion)
T.J. Warren-PF (Small-ball 4 like Carmelo Anthony plays in NY)
Adreian Payne-C (Undersized for 5 but can bang and stretch defense, like David Lee)0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/20/2014 - 4:43am #903756
JoeWolf1Andrew Wiggins – (SG/SF combo who shifts to a SF)Probably a guy who plays mostly SG right away, but I think as he bulks up and matures, he shifts to the 3 spot.
Kyle Anderson – (SF ) Not buying him as a PG, I think he should take a hint from Chandler Parsons and continue to work on his jumper, and use his versitile skillset in a way that he doesn’t have to be a ball dominant player.
Doug McDermott – (SF ) Doug can post up a lot of NBA 3’s, not all, but he has a great post game. Doug is quicker than advertised, but I think small forwards would be easier for him to match up against, and slower closing out on his 3 pointers, and fighting though screens designed to open him up.
Zach LaVine – (PG) In a sort of non-traditional set that is. I think Horncek’s usage of Dragic and Bledsoe is going to be more of a trend with a lot of combos entering the league. I think LaVine would thrive next to a big combo who can ease the burden of him setting everything up.
Noah Vonleh – (PF) He doesn’t have the handles of a 3, and he’s damn near as big as a 5. I think he’ll be a great pick and roll defender and his outside shot is only going to get better. Stretch 4, who can really defend.
Aaron Gordon – (PF) His shot is ugly, and I think he’d clog the lane too much if he played the 3. Maybe if he gets that corner 3 down in a few years, I think that’d be a great thing to add, but in the early years he’d be a great energy 4, who despite being 220 lbs, he could still compete on the glass and cause problems on defense because of his athletic ability.
T.J. Warren – (SF) Warren can put the ball on the floor and I think his kind of bully style would work best on smaller players. He’s at least respectable on the perimeter because he’s a pretty good slasher. You’d like him to be a better shot, but he’d get bullied against NBA power forwards.
Adriean Payne – (PF) Man, this dude is PERFECT size for an NBA 4, and a guy who reminds me of a bit of a more polished version of Vonleh. Stretch 4 who kills it in the pick and pop and who is long enough to defend the block.

juves4783Participantbeat me to it. the last 2 "big" point guard prospects were tobias harris (tennessee) and chandler parsons (florida). both ended up as sf, stretch pfs at times.

juves4783Participanti would agree except i think anderson is going to be more of a point forward. he reminds me of how the suns played boris diaw in the 2000s. he’s just too slow to play pg. mcdermott is a sf. he will never keep with nba sgs. tj warren is a sf. he just needs to work on his shooting. payne is a pf. no way he can hang with nba centers.

JM40ParticipantThese are not the positions I think they’ll be playing, or are being drafted to play, they are positions I thought each prospect “might” have some potential to play at “if” they refine their skills. The post was meant to start a discussion about the long-shot potential roles of each prospect.
