Told you wait a couple of games before jumping on the Josh Shelby Bandwagon
I like Shelby, he's a area kid with a very good game who i think will be a very good pro and he's still one of my favorite Freshmen. Just like Many other players some users on here went crazy after his first and second game instead of waiting a couple of games. He has seemed to come down to earth and is no longer shooting like he started out ( not too surprised since he was never a great shooter). I haven't watched too many Kansas games since his third game so what exactly has he been doing wrong??
He's trying to much to fit into the team's system.....Those first 2 games he was playing off adrenaline from sitting out....Kansas overall team defense hasnt been on par with its offense...And the guards are sometimes forcing plays which leads to turnovers....
First off I notice so many people call him Shelby very strange. I have watched many of the Jayhawk games and I've noticed he's a freshman. He started off hot from deep, but missed a bunch of easy drives so I think he kinda fell back to the jump shot. I would like to see him drive more. Ku's offense is very structured and what I like about him is that he is playing within the offense and not trying to be the man. Tough scenario for to come into an undeafeated team and be expected to make them better. I think if they are going to be succesful come tourny time, he's got to start handling the ball more and driving so that if they run into a cold shooting night he can bail them out by getting to the line. Even missing it opens up offensive rebounds for the Morris twins and Robinson when he draws people to him.
I agree with Paul's Jayhawks as far as his desire to see him drive more. He is either hot to start the game and ends up feeding off that and having a good game or he is cold and rather than drive and try to get to the line to get his shot going he just shoots his way on the bench. He's a streaky player, at this point in his career, and he needs to find a way to get his shooting rythm if he doesn't his his first couple shots.
He's playing within the system. I'm personally glad to see him trying to stick to the team game. Should definitely look to drive more. Kinda reminds me of a shorter OJ.
why aren't we pointing down people who spell this poor kid's name wrong STILL!?!?!?!?!
Selby=Bayless no Mayo by all means.
Yea his name is Selby I played ball with and against him a couple times in Barry Farms Tournaments in DC. He actually surprised me because like previously mentioned he was known as a slasher/dunker he really is shooting the 3 well. I think lottery lock
Disagree memphis. OJ was tweener who tried fitting into he's teams offense and had character concerns coming in. OJ has all the physical tools to be a player who drives, but for some reason tends to stick to the perimeter moreso. Bayless was a guy who went out looking for his shot, and was expected to run PG but failed to do so. Selby is a combo in the mold of Ben Gordon. Just didn't wanna use that comparison because Ben is a pretty high character guy and doesn't play much D whereas OJ and Selby both have had issues, but aren't against defending. Plus he has a flair for the flash the way OJ did. I really don't see Bayless at all actually. More aggressive defender, more passionate, and seems to be willing to do what it takes for his team to win. Just because they are both around 6-2/6-3 and are athletic scorers don't mean they compare that well.
Bayless has T-Rex arms as well. While I don't think Selby is going to be out of this world, I do think his arms will be around 3-4 inches longer than his height the same way that OJ measured out. Again, I say 2-3 inch shorter Mayo.
Which team did you play for in the Barry farms tournament because ive played in that league as well. I dont know why i keep saying shelby when i knows its selby. For some reason its become a habit. Oh well we know who im talking about and ill try to remember it, it is what it is lets move on
You talking about the Goodman League right? My team name slipped my memory but we werent that good. But I played against him when he went to dematha down UDC a couple times
Tried to post to video but thats my team at 2:15. My man Trayvon getting J'd up
I used to run against him during the summer a couple years back. Alot of us former Stags would ball up at Dematha or Doc's gym. He always used to get into it with Jason Forte ( Joe Forte's brother)
WTF is Joe Forte!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is playing in Italy right now for a second division team
O you went to dematha too that's wassup what year?
I went for half a school year back in 05 but moved so ended up at Largo.
