If you were drafting for you team and the need was SF, which prospect would you choose? TJ Warren or Rodney Hood?

     thats really tough.

Hood basically fits the white stereotype. Not a good defender. short arms, not an elite athlete. doesnt bring anything to the table other than great 3 point shooting.

Warren doesnt have a 3 point shoot which will hurt his value in this day of age. He gets all his buckets under the 3 point line, which raises some concerns on how he translates because he’s not an elite athlete.

i’ll probably select Hood just for his 3 point shooting.

I really like Warren and really do not like Hoods game in the nba. So… For me, I take Warren. People talk about his lack of 3 point capability but he is a solid mid range shooter and could hit open 3s. Not to mention, he is a scoring machine. I see a lot of Paul pierce in him, I know that’s not a new comp but it’s a pretty good one in my opinion. I think nba coaches will work with him and he’ll get better. When I watch Hood play I just don’t see him as an nba player. Below average at every nba skill but shooting. And I know people like to say that’s valuable in today’s nba but that’s not really the truth. Nobody cares that Steve Novak is on their team. I’m sure Hood will be a first round pick and be in the nba a while(or d-league), but I just don’t see him getting off the bench much.

This really is a tough one.  While I really like Warren’s shooting ability, he seems to have inferior footspeed and fluidness compared to Rodney Hood.   It was clear that Hood had a better outing at the Draft Combine also.  So, as hard for me to make the decision,  I’m gonna have to go with Rodney Hood because he’s gonna have a slightly better career at the 3 than TJ Warren.

I’d take Hood over Warren. Not sure which one will be better long term, but the Bulls need more guys that can spread the floor. TJ Warren is a really good scorer, but a below average shooter from distance. Hood meanwhile is already an above average shooter from distance with a developing off the bounce game. I also believe that one training camp with Coach Thibs and that lackadaisical $h!+ he pulled on D at Duke will be history.

A bit more versatile offensively, and more upside.

I would take Warren. A lot of players improve their 3 point shot with years in the NBA. Warren can find ways for himself to score and I think he could become an average defender. Hood seems like he would just be a 3 point specialist, so he will find a way to stay in the league. I guess it depends on what my team needs really.

im not totally sold on Warren’s ability to score translating to the pros. His shot does not look good, his mechanics worry me when it comes to future improvement. His quickness is pretty average, the bulk he used in college wont help him as much, and his handle doesnt seem to be real tight. Im just not sure.

Hood is a little more vversatile offensively than people give him credit for. But the 3 ball in his arsenal is something that separates him, thats a skill thats always needed.

Where would you guys put him out of Hood and Warren?  Id go PJ, Warren, Hood.  In that order.  I think PJ will wind up being a steal for someone (if he doesnt go early).
