Timmy D the best PF.PERIOD.
i never understood why everyone always says hes the best PF ever..kind of ubsurd to me
Because he arguably the best low post defender since Russell. Because he's won 4 championships. Because he won an MVP with flashier players like AI and freak athletes like Shaq to contend with. AND unlike Malone and Barkley, he plays and exceptional Center. He's a superb low post passer, has above average ball handling skills, and at one point was literally unstoppable. ALL THIS and he never played the game the wrong way, or played out of his strengths.
To put it into perspective, as far as his production with age goes, here are some greats at his same age. Duncan is right up there with the great post players of the past.
Hakeem Olajuwon - 18.9 ppg 9.6 rpg 2.5 bpg
Patrick Ewing - 17.9 ppg 9.9 rpg 2.6 bpg
David Robinson - 12.2 ppg 8.8 rpg 1.8 bpg
Kareem - 21.5 ppg 7.3 rpg 1.8 bpg
Moses Malone - 15.3 ppg 9.1 rpg .8 bpg
Charles Barkley - 14.5 ppg 10.5 rpg 3.2 apg
Wilt - 13.2 ppg 18.5 rpg 4.5 apg
Karl Malone - 25.5 ppg 9.5 rpg 3.7 apg (probably the most impressive IMO)
Robert Parish - 15.7 ppg 10.1 rpg .9 bpg
karl malone was clearly better than duncan, and thats just 1 guy...so you can throw that best PF ever out the window lol...people just love 'right now'
What was Malone clearly better at? Not low post offense. Not passing. Not ball handling. Not mid range jump shot. And Duncan absolutely crushes Malone in defense. Same thing for Barkley.
Only one you could argue has the complete game of Duncan is Garnett. But, then again, winning can be seen as a difference maker.
I hope you arent one of those people who talk about Kobe or Jordans championships when ranking players. Because as a winner, Duncan is clearly on top of PF's.
great post joewolf i agree that what karl malone did at his age was the most impressive and basketballjunkie smh u certainly arent a basketballjunkie if u dont understand why big fundamental is the best pf ever
Karl Malone played with on the finest passing point guards of all time. Can you imagine a Stockton/Duncan pick and roll?

I dunno. I rate TD as the best PF ever but I would say Malone had the edge in terms of mid range game (especially with his play in the late 90s), had the edge as a passer, was a slightly better ball-handler (although he wasn't on a Charles Barkley like level) a was a better finisher.
TD might be the best all time but let's give the Mailman his due...even if he is a terrible excuse for a human being

last year was the only he hasn't made to the ASG, but he was worth of making easily.. yes 15/9/2 doesn't sound good.. but when you look at his minutes and his averages per 36 was around 20ppg12rpg 3apg 3blp and that his team had the best record in the league, you can think it twice..
this year is the same story, so far Duncan gets 18.2ppg 10.4rpg 2.5bpg 2.5apg also almost a steal his PER is over 27 and he still plays just over 30minutes per game..
this 36year old is THE BIG FUNDAMENTAL..
i mean i know Love will come back and will be great, Pau and Dirk still has it, Bosh is underrated, Blake is struggling but he can play..but Timmy seems to be on a different level, that's just smells greatness
