Being my favorite team, I thought I would write a season preview about the Timberwolves. The future is definitely bright in Minnesota. You could argue that it is as bright as any team in the league. The Timberwolves have a nice blend of vets (Garnett, Miller, Prince, Pekovic) and youth (Rubio, Lavine, Wiggins, Towns, Dieng, etc.). I honestly think they are a playoff team if they played in the East, but unfortunately they play in the unforgiving West. This is definitely a team you will want to keep your eye on. I’m betting they go 6-4 or even 7-3 in there first 10 games, but eventually there youth is going to catch up with them.

    Predictions: Record: 30-52

Leading Scorer: Andrew Wiggins (18-19 ppg)

Leading Rebounder: Karl Towns (10 rpm)

Leading Assist: Ricky Rubio (9-10 apg)

This is going to be an interesting year for the young T-wolves. Losing Flip is a tough blow. It could be a rallying-point for this squad or it could be too much of a burden on a team so tied to the late "Pops" of this family. The vets are going to mean a great deal this year. I think Mitchell is a good coach for this season, all things considered. Now, all that said, let’s get to the team…. I’m predicting Ricky has his first healthy year, and makes it over the 70-game hump. The team will rely heavily on Rubio, Wiggins, and Towns. Overall, I have serious concerns about the ability of this team to stay healthy. If they do, I think they could be a fairly good team. If injuries happen like the past couple of years, this team will have another year like the past few.

    Line-up:
    Rubio    28 mpg, 9 ppg, 6 rpg, 10 apg, 2.5 spg; 73 games

    Wiggins 34 mpg, 18 ppg, 6 rpg, 3 apg, 1.5 bpg, 1.5 spg; 82 games

    Prince     17 mpg, 5 ppg, 2 rpg, 1.5 apg; 67 games

    Garnett   16 mpg, 4 ppg, 4 rpg, 1 spg; 60 games

    Towns    24 mpg, 13 ppg, 9 rpg, 2 apg, 1.5 bpg, 1 spg; 82 games

    Muhammad  18 mpg, 13 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 apg, 1 spg; 61 games

    Dieng      24 mpg, 9 ppg, 10 rpg, 2 apg, 2 bpg, 1 spg; 80 games

    Bjelica     21 mpg, 13 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 apg, 1 bpg, 1 spg; 74 games

    Lavine      22 mpg, 10 ppg, 2 rpg, 2 apg, 1 spg; 78 games

    Jones        13 mpg, 4 ppg, 1 rpg, 3 apg, 1 spg; 80 games

    Payne      13 mpg, 5 ppg, 4 rpg, 1 apg, 1 bpg, 1 spg; 65 games

    Martin     18 mpg, 13 ppg, 1 rpg, 1 apg; 56 games

    Miller     12 mpg, 3 ppg, 1 rpg, 3 apg, 1 spg; 63 games

    Pekovic   18 mpg, 12 ppg, 5 rpg, 1 apg, 1 spg; 32 games

Do you think they just throw Rubio, Lavine, Wiggins, Towns, and Dieng out there and see what happens?  Looks like a group of guys that relies mostly on pure talent, athleticism, and flair than anything else.

I would get as much out of those guys as possible, and not try to make it overly complicated.

I would guess that Shabazz is the 6th man.

With the passing of Flip Saunders I think that KG will basically be a coach on the floor.  Ditto for Tayshaun Prince.  And they also have Andre Miller, Phd.

Should be one of the more interesting stories in the league.  Adversity AND Promise.  They have a whole new look but they bring back the T Wolves Icon Kevin Garnett.

Wiggins and Lavine are as fun to watch as anybody.  The Rubio/Towns pick and roll/pick and combo could be really, really good.

I can see the T Wolves disappointing but I can also see them making a run at the 8th seed.
