Do you guys think Minnesotta really needs another lottery pick on the team? If I were the Minny GM, I’d consider moving the pick. They need a guy who can play on the wing with Wiggins, perferably a shooter. Buddy Hield could maybe fill that spot in the draft, but they might look for a guy with some NBA experience so that they’re not waiting for a bunch of players to develop. A guy like Kris Middleton comes to mind as someone who’d fit perfectly with the team. What do you guys think? Should Minny look to draft another player, or move it for an experienced wing player?

I was thinking more a draft day trade after they see what pick they land, because Simmons or Ingram are both still possibilities.

I think it’s time this team moved on from Ricky Rubio. He is a inefficient scorer, and just so so on defense, not to mention injury prone. If the pick isn’t the first, they should aim to get Kris Dunn or move it for a top shelf PG. They wanna get better start with the head of the team that is the PG position. I really like Dennis Schroder game, but is that good move ?

I’ve wanted this team to trade Rubio since the day we drafted him. The Wolves need to move Rubio, Pek, and Martin before they move on to bigger and better things. At least two of them need to go… And I agree with For_Never_Ever, if they don’t have the top pick, I believe Dunn would be a great fit. But making a move for a younger guard with experience would be a great move! The Wolves can only go so far with a starting point guard that shoots 36% from the field and isn’t a lock down defender…

If they land a top 2 pick they go with Simmons or Ingram, too much talent there not to take them.

After that I really think a guy with some good experience like a Dunn or Hield would bring some nice leadership, you know these guys are workers as they have improved every year and show an ability to lead. At the same time they could use a PF so Rabb or Davis maybe the pick.

What I am doing and it may not be overly liked is looking to move the pick for an experienced PF, the main one I am looking at is if Horford leaves ATL in free agency they may look for a rebuild and Millsap could be had for a lot pick, he would be fantastic along with Towns as the bigs.

Either way you look at it they are in a great position with Towns, Wiggins and LaVine as young pillars, Towns is going to be a boss. They just need to fit the right talent and leadership around them to give them a chance to grow.

The Wolves need to keep the pick and either come up with top pf or a point guard that can run a team and also score a few buckets.

The guys made valid points reference Rubio’s inconsistent offense but it’s not all bad. He’s in the top five in the league in assists and I believe he’s 2nd only to Westbrook in steals. I think if Rubio played on a better, more efficent team, his game would be elevated. And there are a number of teams which could use a pass first PG.

My criticism saying his defense is so so was too harsh, and perhaps calling him injury prone. He more than solid in defense with great size and defensive IQ. I’ve come to see Rubio as a specialist like Rondo, but at the same time think because of it their stats are being padded. I used think Rondo was great and a top PG in league. However, I’ve come to realization perhaps he has always been overrated by me.

Since a guy like Wiggins needs to play with the ball in his hands like Kobe or Jordan (not as talented, obviously), I don’t think you want a true point guard like Rubio or even Kris Dunn. I think you want someone more like Jamal Murray: someone who can really knock it down from outside and not dribble for hours. They surrounded Kobe and Jordan with such players. Minnesota knows this. It’s why they drafted Tyus Jones. But Murray is a much bigger talent.

Other than a PG who can shoot (sorry, Levine, I like you as a 2), they could get another top notch PF. They might have to trade to do that.

I’m completely against trading the pick (unless the offer is too good to refuse)… It’s going to be a top 5 pick at least. This is the perfect time to the Wolves to add that last major piece to this promising roster. Sort of like how Harden was to OKC when they drafted him with KD and Westbrook were still developing.

I hope they can somehow land Bender, Dunn, or Ellenson.. Obviously Simmons and Ingram would be great too but I don’t see them getting in the top 2..

The team has some growing pains to go through these next few years. They still have some time to figure things out even if they draft a player high at pick 3 or 4. If the guy didn’t fit with Wigg and Kat they could trade the guy and another pick. If another team offers a star veteran player for the draft pick I would move on it. Would be a potential playoff team with the 2 young stars and another older leader to help them. KG is good but the guy needs to be a top player on the team.

No they should not trade their pick just for the sake of trading. The Wolves need to complete there future 3 headed monster and hopefully they get it in this years draft. I’ve been going back and forth about who would look and fit the best on the team, right now I would have to say Dunn. It would be great to have a potential bad ass PG for the future.

If the Wolves could somehow get a guy like Middleton for the pick, I’d probably consider it assuming we don’t get the No.1 or No.2 pick.

If it’s No.3 or later, I’d do that easily.

I do get the biggest kick out of the phrasing of hte question though "Do the wolves need another lottery pick on this team?"

They’ve won 15 games…yes. They need as much talent as they can get. And very few free agents are willing to come here, so the only way to really acquire that talent would be via the draft/trades.

Are they even allowed to trade their own 2016 pick?  It has already been traded, so officially it is Boston’s via Phoenix until the season is over, and then the protected pick becomes two second rounders.

So right now, they have picks from other years plus the Atlanta first if they want to make moves.

A team like Minnesota should keep the picks, add more young players as the team will grow with them and Garnett, Martin, Miller, Prince and probably Pekovic won’t be around much longer taking roster spots.

The T-Wolves are still in rebuild but have some great pieces in place. I feel they could almost take BPA with their draft pick depending where they end up in the draft – Simmons, Ingram, Brown, Bender would all be good fits. The likes of Dunn and Poetel would probably not be considered given the depth they have there but anyone who could play SG, SF or PF and are in their draft range they would take a long look at.

Obviously if they ended up with a top 3 pick they would love Simmonds or Ingram but a bit lower than that they have good options. If they did slip to say 5 or 6 and they didn’t see anyone they really fancied they would have a great trade chip to bring in a proven player to fill an identified need and give extra oncourt experience longer term.
