Bmore_DCParticipantive been a Spurs fan my whole life, ever since meeting David Robinson when he was attending the Naval Academy here in Annapolis…we have been fortunate to get two #1 picks in my lifetime and now it seems Tim Duncans career is close to being over…here is a recent quote from Tim himself on his retirement:
“I haven’t gotten to that bridge,” Duncan said, at the dawn of his 15th Spurs training camp. “I don’t even see that bridge yet. When I get there, then I’ll cross it.”
My question for you guys is, how many more years do you think Tim will play? This is the last year on his current contract…
My second question is, what will the Spurs do to re-build this aging squad???

JaeEvolutionParticipantI would give Tim Duncan 2-3 mildy effective years left until he kind of slows down and calls it quits.
As far as them rebuilding there are few franchises run as well as the Spurs, sprinkle in a lot of luck but still they know who to draft and when that time comes that they are at the bottom of the West, I have no doubt they will make the right decision. Also they got a great starting piece in Kawhi Leonard so I’m not too worried about the Spurs.

Bmore_DCParticipantyea, well said Jae…he will def be taking a pay-cut with his next contract so that frees up some space for them…i kinda thought they would be chasing Nene harder but im glad they are just being patient and i really liked the picks of Leonard and Joseph

fastdanParticipantSpurs make excellent moves. Leonard, Joseph, Splitter, Blair and Anderson are all good young players who are going to be developed under the best coaches and smart experienced vets. Right now they seem to lack a franchise player, but no one thought Parker or Ginobili were going to be All-stars, so who know how those guys will develop in the next few years.

thparadoxParticipantMildly effective years? Perhaps by his standards. But he’s stil a top 3-5 low post scorer. He’s still an above average rebounder and quality defender. It’s tough to say how many years he has left. It’s really dependent on staying out of injury trouble… Pop is cutting his minutes as much as possible.
They lost to the Grizzlies last year because they weren’t big and athletic enough, especially in rebounding (also, Grizz were terrific). The spurs need Splitter to step in and play good D and get rebounds. Leonard needs to do some serious damage on the boards as well (and he seems more than capable).
Should be an interesting year. I expect Pop to keep the same strategy of raining 3s during the regular season.

EuroBallParticipantThat would be a good deal for the Spurs he will come in and give them that inside force they need. If they get Nene the Spurs can make a run for the Championship in a short season.

fastdanParticipantThey don’t have cap space for Nene, so I’m not sure how that would be an option.
