If your the Thunder, do you let him walk and get nothing in free agency or do you trade him and get some value? I just hate how players can hold a team and a city hostage like this. On one hand, if you trade him, you risk &$#%#&@! Westbrook off, causing him to leave. If you let it wait and hope he wants to stay in OKC, then you risk him pulling a Lebron and leaving for another team.

I’m not an OKC fan, just a knick fan and a fan of basketball in general, and as a fan, I want him to stay in OKC and continue to fight for a championship with the Thunder alongside Westbrook.

If your OKC, what do you do and how do you play this game?

as a basketball fan, I generally like when stars stick with one team. but cant blame any player who looks out for what they want. As for what OKC should do, unless Durant full on says he wants out, you don’t trade him. You stick with him and hope for best. Plus the trade deadline is long gone so this topic is a little late.

Something I don’t trust in Durant though. I feel like he likes being a "villian" or not liked by the media a little too much. Durant pulling a Lebron on OKC would certainly make him not likeable too many people.  OKC won’t be able to offer him the money LA and NY can offer so they’re at a huge disadvantage. I think your playing a dangerous game if you hold on too long. On the flipside, if you do pull the trigger on him, you have to worry about Westbrook leaving  so either way, your kind of screwed. I’d love to see both westbrook and durant go out like stock and malone, but hopefully win a few titles together for the thunder.

As great as Durant is, I don’t want him on the Knicks because I want the Knicks to find their own Kevin Durant in the draft. As great as he is, hes been in the league almost 8 years and this is the same mileage Melo had when we signed him.

Durant is out of Okc after this season. He has problems sleeping at night with to many loud Thunder storms. They should of kept the franchise in Seattle where marijuanna is now legal. Everyone would want to play there.

I’d trade Westbrook because they are too scared to play him at the two for someone else to make better decisions down the stretch of games and Durant never wants to say anything negative about Russell. They lose the same way every time down the stretch and now it’s beyond obvious; Westbrook going one on one taking bad shots and looking right past Durant and his teammates. You’re not going to beat San Antonio or Golden St. ever in a series playing like that.

I don’t see why he would stay if it’s going to continue to be the same thing that it’s been for the past 4 years and they aren’t considered young anymore. What everyone is saying is true. They stand a chance of losing both of them to be realistic if they don’t make a move.

I still think he would of signed before the season if he was going to stay. Its to big a distraction for the team.

I really don’t know what he will do. On one side, he is quiet, no fuss and loyal but then with their roster and salaries you wouldn’t blame him for leaving. Adding Kancer and Waiters didn’t really help much and they are pushing the salary cap so who knows if they can sign a top FA or two in the offseason (Pau Gasol has already come out and said he wants to play for a contender and money is not the issue)

He could sign and wait. Spurs big 3 and pop will retire soon. Curry’s ankles can’t last forever (Bogut and Iggy getting older) so the Thunder could still be a chance in the next two to three years.

I reckon him and Westbrook will have a serious chat after this season. As with Lebron, watch Durant’s body language in closing time of the final playoff game….

If he leaves, I think we can look back on the Waiters and Kancer move. Kancer is way overpaid at nearly $18mill. Waiters wasn’t an improvement over Lamb who they never really gave enough minutes to

    Durant is goneeeee

Its not a matter of if he’ll go…but to where.

If I had stocks in OKC, I’d take whatever I could get for them because in 2 years this team will have 0 talent and nothing to show for the Durant/Westbrook era.

Even if they Trade Westbrook before the deadline, you wont get much value for a half season rental.

Theyre a strong candidate to be the new Twolves in my opinion.

You could be right on this one. Greg Monroe kept his mouth shut, then left. Aldridge did the same thing.

Yeah you simply can’t say anything, or even hint that you’re going. It turns into a circus.

He’s probably said something behind closed doors to management so they can prepare, but the second it leaks to the media it turns into a circus that railroads their chances of winning a title. And Fans/Westbrook will never forgive the team for trading him.

Durants a good guy and OKC isn’t a bad place to play. But he has 29 other options, and plenty of time to wonder whether the grass is greener on the other side.

The LaMarcus Aldridge way of doing things is a best-case example by the Blazers. They got on the front-foot straight away and started making deals. I’m inclined to think Aldridge let them know in advance too.

No one is being held hostage. OKC had a lot of talent and a lot of years to build something great. Durant has been a great player, they have been doing great in attendance, and they have won a lot of games together. The players don’t get to decide what team they want to go to which guarantees 2 years and 2 more team options, then if you are one of the better players the best first major contract you can get is by re-signing with the same team for another 4-5 years. OKC is free to move or make an aggressive pitch for Durant to stay. Durant is free to leave or come back. Besides it’s not like OKC is some free agent destination and it probably makes it harder for someone to want to say when the surrounding roster is a lot worse than what you have been used to.

I dont know if Westbrook at the two would even be the right move. I actually liked Jeff Green on their team too. Hated it when they traded him.

At this point I would agree that having at least two ball dominant players on the same team is not ideal for contenders. Instead you need to have at least two ball-dominant CAPABLE players who can also be effective off the ball. Durant is the only player on OKC with that skill set. I would also like to see a top notch lockdown perimiter defender on their team, like Tony Allen.
