Just an idea, but i think it this three-team trade works for all teams:
LA Clippers send Randolph and Mardy Collins to Memphis,
Memphis send Mike Conley, Darko Milicic and a re-signed Hakim Warrick to Sacramento,
and Sacramento send Kenny Thomas and Beno Udrih to the Clippers.
Clippers would get rid of Randolph and griffin would step into the starting lineup, and mike dunleavy gets a point guard he admires in Beno Udrih. I can haardly see kenny thomas playing another game in the NBA, so really he's in the deal to make numbers match.
Memphis would keep their second pick and draft rubio, get an average back up point in mardy collins but get solid low post scoring in randolph. they have a short bench though, but rubio, mayo and gay would be a formidable backcourt trio. however, they would be taking a gamble eating into their cap space and losing their chance to sign an 2010 free-agent.
Sacramento would get an improving distributor, and i like them to draft jordan Hill, who would be a perfect fit for this team if this deal went through, as sacramento would then have extreme energy and intensity throughout their team, not to mention a better defensive front court. it also clears heaps of room for the 2010 off-season, when Milicic and Conley's contracts run out, and they clear out udrih's ugly contract...
In the end this is how the rotations would figure...
Beno Udrih and so on....
Rashard Mccants, F. Garcia and so on...
but a really short bench of Darius Miles, Q. Ross, Haddadi, Arthur, and their No.27 pick.
this could help their young players get more experience though...
LA may need to throw a future draft pick at the Kings to sweeten the deal but i think it works well for all team.... what do you guys think????
randolph traded + talent received = a+
If any team in the NBA would take Zach Randolph right now, it would be Memphis.
Darius Miles/Zach Randolph reunion of their "glory" days in Portland. Lol
now that's stooping really low.
i dont classify beno udrih as talent mike dunleavy does as he pursued him in the off-season last year before they signed baron davis....
having said that mike dunleavy needs to be fired immediately.
Well, done! Really good post... very interesting and thoughtful... it's rare to hear from people on this site who know what they're talking about and care about this the way I do... keep 'em coming!
this is a good idea except the clippers are also looking to get rid of camby and possibly Davis. I think they might try and start over again and build around the young core "big three" of eric gordon, al thornton and blake griffin. Deandre jordan could also possibly have a big year. I also like the idea of of Udrih going to the clippers. He could be a decent backup to play a lot of minutes because davis is always hurt or he could be a capable starter with excellent scorers surrounding him. The Clippers actually wanted Udrih last summer, too.
but the clippers would be better to shop around randolph than get rid of two guys who could really help the clippers this year with blake griffin... camby recently said he was looking forward to playing with griffin and davis has decided to redidicate himself this year...
therefore randolph is the one we need to let go....
yes we... im a clippers fan lol
This is not a bad trade. Does it actually fit within the pay scale. If so maybe you need to be a GM.
lol @Sheltwon it is actually a possible deal based on numbers.... depending on how much the grizzlies sign hakim warrick for which would then have to be between 4-7 million which is very possible...
maybe i should be the cliipers GM.... first duty? fire dunleavy lol
off the bench udrih is talent. name 10 pgs off the bench that are better than him. also, we are not really looking to move camby bcuz not only is he an important mentor, but he is also a good player with a useful expiring contract.
Dude, back when I was in the NBA, Dunleavy was hated.
--I do not think that Memphis would trade for Zach Randolph. I know his stats look good, but the guy is a chemistry killer. Every team that he has played for has been terrible. Rubio would be a great replacement for Conley, but there is no guarentee that he will play for them. Check out the latest report on Rubio here:
--As the clippers fan stated previously, LA would jump at this deal in a hearbeat.
--Sacramento would aquire some nice pieces in Warrick and Conley, although I don't think they would draft hill after picking up Warrick (maybe Harden or DeRozen or Evans). I think that they would agree to the deal.
Again, nice thought, but I'm not sure Memphis would agree to it, especiallly since Randolph is signed for three years and their owner is cheap.
good point actually... drafting someone like harden or derozen or even jrue holiday could be a better option for the kings... and i would admit that it isnt looking likely that memphis wanna give up their cap room for 2010 for randolph, but he would provide a decent punch from the post lol (no pun intended regarding louis amundson suspension)
clipper to answer your question...
just to name a few
The Grizzlies turned down a Darko and Marko for Randolph trade earlier in the season. I doubt they want Randolph now. Dude is cancer and the Grizzlies are too young to have a guy like that on the team.
subsitute Kaman for Randolph there might be a slight dropoff in talent but Kaman isnt a cancer and wont hinder the development of Rubio/Mayo/Gay with his demanding the ball
me being a grizzly fan
thats a trade i can deal with
we get a legit big who can bang and rebound
but honestly id look into trading up if i was chris wallace
I actually think this trade might work for everyone. The Kings would be the biggest winners by far which makes it curious why you would say the Clippers might have to throw them an extra 1st rd pick to sweetin the deal. I live in Sac, and I can gaurantee you they would love to unload both Kenny Thomas's and Beno Udrih's contracts even if it meant getting nothing back. But to be able to unload those 2 contracts as well as recieve a 1st rd pick, a young pg in Conley who makes less money and might be better then Udrih. A piar of young bigs in Warrick and Milicic who can add a combination of athleticism, size, and depth to a young group that can use all of the above...they would cream their pants if they could pull off that trade.
I am not the biggest fan of Udrich but I have to say that some of these players on that list earlier are not better than him.
cj watson(Golden State would start Udrich next to Ellis yet Watson who has put up some number from time to time is not starting---could be GSW fault though)
jordan farmar(no there was a time when I would has agreed but no he is limited to just scoring, his NBA playmaking skills are not impressive)
anthony carter(lol this one was too funny)
anthony johnson( actually from time to time he could actually do it yet he has never started for any team that long and he has been in a while and he has nice height and can make plays)
kirk hinrich(yes but he should be starting and hopefully he will be next year)
jj barea(nice scorer but not better than Udrich)
sergio rodriguez(this one may be a winner, he is getting a bad rap in Portland)
antonio daniels(not this year maybe in the past)
kyle lowry( yes dude is a beast, memphis has given away so many good players who they could have kept on the cheap)
leandro barbosa( He is a better player by far but he is not a better point guard)
will bynum(Bynum is nice and if people were smarted they could have had a starter on the cheap)
i really do lke this trade, it makes somuch since to me becuz i honeslty think this scenario could truly play out and be true
