Thoughts on a Big Al for Iggy trade

I've been thinking more and more about what my sixers could get for Iggy. We currently could use another big, and considering Utah's abundance of PF/C players, I was thinking a trade with them may be ideal.

Big Al is still very young and has one of the best post games in the league. His D may not be the greatest but it isn't horrible either. I think he and Holiday could be a very nice duo especially if we could teach Big Al to kick the ball back out for the open 3.

Utah still needs a SG/SF. IDK if I fully trust Hayward, but I do like his game (maybe not as a full time starter, still waiting to get a full feel for him). Burks could be a solution at SG, but they could always use him as a 6th man or Hawyard there as well. Iggy would provide an immediate starting option at SF or SG. He'd bring them another good perimeter defender and allow them to move one of their bigs to get Favors/Kanter/Millsap more PT. It also moves that big contract of Big Al and gives them a small cap break while moving the majority of that money to a position of greater need.

Thoughts on a Big Al for Iggy trade

This would be a good trade for both teams and AL would fit in very well with what y'all trying to do over there with Doug Collins system. And it's time to see if Evan turner was worth that 2nd pick for y'all.

Thoughts on a Big Al for Iggy trade

This would be a good trade for Utah because they alredy have Enes Kanter, Paul Milsap and Derrick Favors

They don`t need so many good big mans

A good deal for both teams

A good deal for both teams but my concern would be should the 76er's use Big Al as a PF or a C. I suppose they could amnesty Brand to allow Al to perhaps play his more natural role. I'm interested to see that M-Dymes who is a Philly fan has suggested this trade so he can obviously see how Al would fit in. Personally I feel that the deal is perhaps a bit better for Utah but Philly do get a scoring big in his prime and M-Dymes has no doubt seen much more of Coach Collins' system than I have so I'll agree that it's a good trade for both sides.

Yea Hitster, I will not deny

Yea Hitster, I will not deny that I am not the biggest Big Al fan, I labeled him the Black Hole for a reason. That being said, I don't see the Sixers winning down the stretch without a better option at C/PF. Brand played well, but I think he needs a better big besides him.

Big Al, while not the perfect compliment for Brand defensively, is an elite scorer. He's capable of being a very weak #1 option or a solid #2. Iggy is a weak #2, solid #3 option IMO. I do not see us taking a championship or making a deep playoff run in the short-term with Iggy and no elite option at the 4 or 5. I like Iggy alot, he's one of my favorite players. But if we want to make a run in the future at a title or becoming a serious contender, we need to invest in players at other position than just our wings. Iggy is getting older and once his athleticism leaves him, alot of his dominance in the game is going to fade. Its time to prep Turner and Young.

I think in the future we have a much greater shot at becoming a contender with a lineup of...

Holiday/Turner/Young/Brand/Jefferson

vs.

Holiday/Turner/Iggy/Brand/(Hawes, Speights, Vucevic)...the 5 leaves leaves little to be desired.

Iggy Trade

I would love that trade, maybe see if we could get a pick along with Jefferson..I think Jefferson could be an All-Star back in the East..In order for Evan Turner to get a chance, Iggy has to go..And getting a legit Big would be great!!

I like it...

I like it, and both teams could benefit. If this trade went down, this is how I could picture the teams

76ers:

PG - Jrue Holiday

SG - Evan Turner

SF - Thaddeus Young

PF - Al Jefferson

C - Marreese Speights

Bench:

Louis Williams

Elton Brand

Spencer Hawes

Jazz:

PG - Devin Harris

SG - Alec Burks

SF - Andre Iguodala

PF - Paul Millsap

C - Enes Kanter

Bench:

Gordan Hayward

Derrick Favors

Mehmet Okur

Sixers should not make that trade...

Big Al plays no defense, enough said,,...he also makes more than Iggy I believe...

we need to build around Holiday,Turner,Iggy,Young,Speights,Vucevic and 2012 Draft Selection...I would trade Lou Will, Jodi Meeks and whatever else needed to secure a pick in the Top 10.

If I were the Sixers GM

1. I would Amnesty Brand

2. resign Thad Young

3.Play the youth and suck this year, secure a top 5 to 10 pick in this Draft...

4.Save the Money left over from Brand,Nocioni,Hawes,Brackins, and Battie(25 million plus) for the 2012/20113 Free Agent pool...

5. Make a Max Offer at Howard using Philadelphia's media market and young roster...

Possible Roster

Holiday-Lou Williams

Evan Turner-Jodi Meeks

Andre Iguadola-Thad Young

Top 5-10 Pick* Anthony Davis,Perry Jones or Jared Sullinger

Dwight Howard-Marreese Speights

I think the Jazz would rather

I think the Jazz would rather try and swing a deal for Granger. Fills their SF need and three point shooting need better than Iggy.

Thoughts

I like the idea Dymes. Big Straight Al's salary is like 200k more than Iggy's so that's not a big deal. And at only 2 years left, a full healthy season after that knee injury, and that is a pretty solid deal for a 26 year old center who averaged 18.6 and 9.7 last year. As far as his defense is concerned, it's still an improvement over Hawes and M-16. Hawes is a stereotypical white boy while Speights can't even spell defense. (My guess-deefence.)

Not sure what better the Sixers can get for Iggy. Rudy Gay would be nice but that's a big contract for another guy who is a bit of a Black Hole himself. Monta Ellis would be cool but he'd seriously stunt the growth of ET and Jrue. If we can trade Iggy for Jefferson and a protected 1st, I would be estatic. Iggy for Al straight up is also cool with me.

i'd rather keep Iggy and Amnesty Elton Brand

If we do trade Iggy I want a Lottery Pick...I dont want another contract in return...I like Al Jefferson on the block but not playing C, and not at the price tag he's coming in at...I'd rather hold on to Iggy than trade him for a Black Hole that cant play Defense...

Sixers need to Amnesty Brand now,,..If we competely suck this year we can add a top 5 Pick, and have a ton of Cap space next summer...

we could have A young Core of Holiday/Turner/Iggy/Thad/Speights/Vucevic plus a Top 5 pick plus CAP $$$

disagree

Why would we amnesty Brand right now? We may as well just keep him for another season and then amnesty him next offseason if we have a legitimate shot at Dwight Howard. Which we probably don't.

Also, I don't want to have to watch another crappy Sixers season where they lose and we get a lotto pick. This team improved by leaps and bounds last season and gave the Heat one helluva battle in the first round. Why take a step back? For a player who might be good? I'll pass on that option. Just think back to the 2009-10 Eddie Jordan season and imagine having to watch something like that again this year.

As far as a young core plus having cap space; Thad isn't going to be cheap and Jrue is going to need an extension soon. Plus, what makes you think a big FA is going to want to sign in Philly? I love the city and I know you do too, but does a Dwight Howard really want to come here? It's cold as hell and high pressure, especially for highly paid players. The Sixers also have a terrible track record with FA signings. And it appears that all superstars would much rather team up with a butt buddy than join a young, up-and-coming team.

I had forgotten that Iggy had

I had forgotten that Iggy had an extra possible year on his deal if he took up his player option for 2013/14 so if you look at the deal that way then Philly do clear cap space possibly earlier with Jefferson.

If they do get another year out of Brand then it is a nice expiring deal for 2012/13 when they can look at maybe finding a young player via a trade. They do have decent assets so a deal might be there. They could make a bid for Howard and it is a big market so it is worth a shot.
