OhCanada-ParticipantAnyone else watching his debut. He looks great. I’m afraid the Raptors passed on the wrong guy. He’s hitting his jumpers/free throws, mixing it up inside dominating the glass and looks comfortable. I keep saying in this new officiating in the NBA being tall has huge advantages. He could stand to add some weight but he looks like he is made of muscle and the guy is 7’1! Good pick maybe ready to play.
Kay Felder also is looking good for the Cavs

llperezI am unimpressed with rashad vaughn. I know he has a gauranteed deal as a first rounder, but he does not look like an nba guy out there Just looked up his rookie stats and he went for 3ppg on 30% shooting from the field. Is he a lock to even make the bucks this year?

machu46ParticipantHe’ll probably bounce between the D-League and the NBA roster this year if I had to guess. No doubt it wasn’t a promising rookie season for him though.

BiggysmallsParticipantDidn’t see Thon play but I saw almost nothing but the opposite on Twitter from some of the college/nba guys there.
Not sure if they are just "haters"…or more nuanced or maybe there is a middle. I don’t know. But that’s interesting.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI like Maker! He plays hard at both ends. Runs the floor and changes ends hard. Plays with a high motor. Covers great ground defensively… Hits the glass. His jumper was off, but his mechanics are solid.
He’s gonna be good… Just wait until he gets stronger and tightens up his footwork, and just becomes more polished. Upside is great.

For_Never_EverParticipantDefensively he can be a beast. Athletically he is impressive, and agility for his height. He has a baby face, hopefully he can add weight that will be key to opening up everything for him.

Hype MachineI don’t know what people expect out of preps-to-pros prospects, but to instantly be the best player on the court, even in Summer League ridiculous. If he was hitting his jump shot, people would have been falling over backwards about this summer league debut and he could have dropped 20+.
I’ve been saying that Maker is the next KG the whole time. No caveats, if’s or but’s…..just a little less trash talk.
I don’t when hyper-athletic, 7’1" bigmen with endless motors and the ability to stretch the floor became unpopular…..last time I checked that was pretty much what every NBA team dreamed of.
First person that should admit they were wrong about maker is the Draftnet Twitter guy. Continued to slander Maker about his age (despite being proven wrong) long after everyone else had given up….which was disappointing since that’s more of a DX move, who by that stage had acknowledged it was all BS cosnpiracy theories. Time to suck it up boys, Maker is the future….and just made you look really bad.
Bucks fans must love what their team is doing right now.

For_Never_EverParticipantI don’t see why toss shade at DX. They do about as good job as any site. Except they don’t have a open forum for people like here. We all have to be skeptical of foreign players age especially if it’s your job to do know. I believe he is 19yrs old or younger by his build and face, but have you seen his birth certificate?

For_Never_EverParticipantYou know you have to be really stupid if you don’t think a professional team doesn’t go all the way to figure out how old a foreign player is. For teams and this much talk of how old he is has to be legit because it’s likely he doesn’t have his original birth certificate or can be faked. When he was drafted they said teams read all his transcripts to try figure out how old he is. In the Olympics athletes faked ages constantly in the past. I think they cracked down it now. I’m talking about foreign players so I’d guess Bazz from the Wolves don’t count or that 35 yr old guy trying to pass off as a HS kid.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m impressed. He is even more mobile and athletic than I thought. His defensive potential is through the roof. He has a strong motor and competes on both ends. I know this is only summer league, but he did not look at all intimidated and looked like he belongs out there. He can be a factor defensively immediately with his length and mobility and he is only scratching the surface of his potential on that end.
Offensively, he did some nice things but is clearly a work in progress. I saw him hit one jumper but even that looked kind of awkward. He’ll probably score mostly on hustle plays and putbacks initially, which is fine. Definitely needs to get stronger and develop his skills but that’s to be expected for a guy right out of hs. Not going to overreact after one game, but I can definitely see what the hype was about with this kid. This is really my first time seeing him play extended mins against substantial competition.

HitsterParticipantHe looked very good from the fairly limited clips I’ve seen, I don’t think Toronto have had a wrong decision in taking Poeltl especially as they are looking to compete much more now than the Bucks are. The only thing I’d say is that Maker with Jonas behind him anchoring the paint would have been interesting to watch guarding PFs mid range as his lack of bulk is less of an issue here.
The commentators are already talking about Maker and Giannis with their wingspans in combo on defence.

natevalParticipantThon looked really good. I don’t get all the hate he was getting up until the draft. Today without any development he is a 7 ft athletic freak with a nonstop motor. His shot is going to get better. He missed all 4 of his 3’s but it looks like the Bucks are going to want him to develop that shot. Thon has a great work ethic too so that should help with his development.
I don’t know how the "experts" didn’t see this with Thon. Yes he’s raw but he’s long and athletic. Where are the "experts" that had Thon as a second rounder now

DanielcmccartyParticipantThon played well and scored of energy plays. Getting position around the rim getting a lot of clean up dunks. He fell down after jumping about 7 times last night. His legs have got to get stronger or he’s an injury waiting to happen. 82 games of wear and tear, his body needs to get stronger. But he plays a lot harder then I thought
