I know it’s too early, if you watch this 7 ft 8th grader he has an interesting skillset, nice shooting stroke from the outside and he can put the ball on the floor.

He’s similar to how Andrew Wiggins was when he was a Freshmen, what I mean by that is the foreign players who move to the states to play prep school ball are usually a year older than most of their class. The prep school players usually prefer an extra year of prep school ball to help them get ready playing at a higher level of competition. With Thon being born in February of 1997 he would be a normal aged Junior next year. Most of the time those guys have the option to reclassify they just have to take some extra classes. He is obviously good enough to play college hoops in the 2015-2016 season so keep an eye out for his reclassification.

There is no way in hell he was born in 1997. Please get serious. He’s obviously lying about his age.

Why because he is black and was born in Africa you racist piece of s**t. If people said that about the Nigerian kid Adetukonbo you would go mental.

I’ve seen him play. He was very impressive for a 9th grader and he moved very good for his height.

I’m wondering if he’s the 7-footer that will be playing for Boo Williams EYBL team. Would anyone happen to know?

He’s not born in 1997. Anyone with even half a brain can see that.

I read the same from posters on another forum who played against him in Australia.
Even if he was a little older, that still doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s 7′ with a monster wingspan, good touch and coordination.
He has physically matured from the first time he was spotlighted, showing better foot speed, lift and balance which is a good sign that he’s growing into his body and not close to maturation.

I didn’t mean he can’t play. I was just pointing out the obvious that no way in hell was he born in 1997. One look at him and it’s totally beyond obvious.

    You can’t see it Euroballer!

The guy goes to a private US School and I think they would want a fairly solid proof of age to have him in their system.

The guy has loads of size and upside but lets just enjoy watching him for now as he’s at least 3 years off the draft.

Somebody did say he is 21 on other forum

    don’t know if it’s truth

Personaly I wouldn’t be surprised. Cibona last season somehow signed “kid” in their junior team and it turned out he was over 20 and had wife and kids

Unfortunally it happens. Not just with african people. Vujcic, Ilyasova, Ugrinoski etc. played with fake papers. Last year it showed Ulubay brothers are 96., not 97.

Lots of Turkish players has fake papers. It got so bad in recent years that some agents stopped working with Turkish players over it.

Anyway NBA does not care, it’s been known guys like Ilyasova, Biyombo, Yi, Mutombo, Olajuwon, etc., etc. etc. had wrong birth dates and wrong documents and NBA never changed a thing.

It’s actually almost comical the case of Ilyasova.
