Here is a guy some people said could contribute right away. After 4 summer league games I say he has to improve before being a starter, especially on offense.
He had a good first game, not great and has gotten worse since. He is averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, which isn't bad at all, but he is doing so shooting 32% from the field, 55% from the line, 4.75 turnovers and 4.5 fouls. And that is playing against summer league talent.
My greatest fear with him is if he would be able to get his shot off against men taller than him and sometimes as athletic. On college he was much more athletic than the people he played against and used that to become a star. He has limited post moves and must improve this.
I know its just 4 games, but what do you guys think? What will his stats be this season?
I agree 100%. It did not look good when he drove to the basket and was blocked multiple times. Or when he got a rebound and was blocked trying to put it back up.
I feel like this guy may be stuck between the SF/PF positions. It looks like he probably should have been developed as a SF.
He's also playing with a lot of scrubs and is being too aggressive at times. When he plays with Cousins and Thomas and Evans he won't have the pressure of attempting to carry the team through a game. That's why I don't care much for his shooting % or turnovers for now because it should go up when he plays with actual nba players. All he really needs to do in the coming up season is rebound like a boss and be a team guy that brings energy. His FT% should go up with some reps and maybe get a FT guru to teach him if that fails and he also needs to learn to not foul but that too comes with experience.
All in all I'm not too worried about his summer league play.
Plus that turnover per game total stems largly from game 1 when he was asked to be the press breaker against CHA. He had 8 turnovers in that game alone.
He'll be fine. He's just forcing things. He needs to learn to use deception/misdirection so he doesn't telegraph his moves. Right now he wants to crush people so bad he's not using his brain.
Yea, we all know he isn't a feature type offensive player. That is what he is doing in summer league though. I think he will have a very productive year playing alongside Demarcus and Tyreke. Depending on minutes I could see him getting 3 offensive rebounds a game. He will be fine where he is at.
Yeah, it's too early. He really is forcing things on offense, but a bright spot is really his post passing. He's had some really nice feeds down low and is averaging 3 apg. Imagine him opposite DeMarcus Cousins. They are both really good passers and that due could be really fun to watch.
I didn't like him at 2, a little better value at 5. I think he'll become a fine player, but there were some guys with a much greater upside drafted after him...
He's been playing like Tyrus Thomas on his worst days so far. His decision-making has been terrible. But like What The Devil said, he should tone it down in the regular season when he starts playing w/ better teammates.
Do you realize that like 50+ % of nba pfs are "undersized",a inch or two wont be problem for him if he got what it takes
I Consider myself a Christian..But never my my Lifetime i thought i'll agree with anything the ''Devil'' has to say..But What the devil said was correct..
And i must add that i felt Terrance Jones and Royce White will be better pros.becuz of their ability to make plays..But I felt Robinson fit what the Kings needed..That was a hustling energetic athletic guy..Playing with Evans, Cousins and Brooks he'll get his points from tip-ins and in transition....He's going to improve his free throw % also...
I didn't watch Robinson as much in college as I probably should have, but I have been impressed with him in the SL games. You can't look at statistics because if you do you are missing what is really going on in the game. Robinson's dribbling and passing have been the most impressive and unexpected to me. If you are going to get upset at anything from Robinson in the summer league it should be his free throw shooting.
Probably finished with his strongest game so far. 15 (6-14) points 16 (4 offensive) rebounds 3 assists and a block. The most important part is that he and Jimmer heated up a bit and pulled away at the end of the 3rd quarter and eventually opened the game up to 20 points, before they were pulled.
Shooting percentages were low, he turned the ball over and surprisingly shot about 10% worse from the FT line than he did in college, but he produced 13 ppg 9.8 rpg 3 apg and I saw some improvements. Also since settling down in the last 4 games he has had 15 assists to 16 turnovers. It was really his 8 TO first game that drove his TO total through the roof.
