SwatLakeCityParticipantThis guy is a lock lottery pick. Before the NCAA season started I was a little hesitant about him since he disappeared so much with both of the Morris brothers overshadowing his talent. But he has taken advantage of their absence and really played extremely well despite his lack of size. He could even go in the top 5.

PabloFiascoParticipantWhy is this question even up there -_____- OF COURSE!!! Why would you not draft him? He’s a terrific athlete who rebounds, runs the floor, nice midrange jumper, a good post game, and he plays defense…the bobcats NEED him lol

TheFpParticipantMaybe you are asking about some other Thomas Robinson?! Or you just came out of cave.

cabbycabParticipantLet me rephrase the question for the OP:
" will teams take a chance on an undersized / unpolished PF ? "
Answer is OFCOURSE. They’ve done it since the start of time. Even Korleone Young got a shot and he was 6’7” PF from high school.
I personally think he would be a good pickup for someone, but not sure if he is top 5 material…..he could be.

JoeWolf16’9” 240lbs 7’1” wingspan…not undersized

surveParticipantyeah, I dont know why people say he is undersized. he has been listed at 6’10", we know he is at least 6’9". They only way I would say he is undersized is if he measures less than 6’8" without shoes….and even then it may not be a big deal because he is long.

JoeWolf1I think there were a lot of misconceptions about him leading into this season. Him being undersized was one and him being a tweener was another. He’s a PF through and through ( 12 rpg ) and although his size is not amazing, he’s at a good size for an NBA PF.

delfamParticipantI guess the problem I have with him is he doesn’t show much skill on offense. He gets most of his points but outworking and out-hustling his opponents or just being more athletic. In the NBA when he faces bigger, stronger, more athletic guys on a nightly basis I’m just not sure If he’ll be able to score consistently on offense.

JoeWolf1^He’s really expanded his offensive game this season. He does use his strength to get good position, but if you look at his footwork…it’s really very good. He’s also getting more confident in his jumpshot. Early in the season, it was a little shakey, but lately he’s been shooting a 15 footer with more confidence and is even 3-6 from 3 in his past 6 games. He’s also improved his FT shooting by 14% this season and 25% since his freshman year. No, he’s not a guy who’s amazing on offense, but he’s not a finished project either.
He’s a guy who not only has improved since last year, but a guy who’s noticably improved in the past month. A guy constantly getting better and showing new dimension to his game scares me a lot less than a guy who doesn’t improve at all.

Aran SmithKeymasterMy guess is he will measure 6’7.25 barefoot to 6’7.5. If you see him live he does not look like a legit 6’9. Regardless of the 6’10 LeBron camp measurement. Granted nobody thought Kemba Walker could possibly 5’11.5 barefoot. He looks about 5’11 in shoes. And some scouts still think that measurement "got help"……Robinson is probably a small 6’9 or a big 6’8, either way the 7’1 wingspan gives him the length that makes up for his height. He should be fine size-wise.

Meditated StatesParticipantI could be wrong, but eye test says no way. He has improved his jumper. I see him as a defender/rebounder at the next level. Unless he test out to be 6ft9 I would not touch him in the top 5. He is an NBA player and will be in the L for a long time just not top 5 if he turns out to be 6ft6 or 7.

JoeWolf1^ He was about as tall as Markeiff Morris, I remember, when seeing them on the court and during warmups. Markeiff I think was 6’7.5” barefoot.

BiggysmallsParticipantI would not take him in the top 5, but if a team picking between 8 and 14 gets a shot he could be a very valuable piece because of his role playing potential. He is not going to be a top 3 option offensivlely, but he will make an impact as a guy who can play off of others. He will set picks, rebound, run the floor, defend, do alot of the little things. You don’t draft players in the top 5 to do those kind of things only.
I think Robinson has the potential to be a solid 10-13 ppg and 7-10 rpg type of player. I think he would be perfect in a role like that which he played last season at Kansas, as the 3rd big in a rotation to provide energy and defense.
I see Robinson as a Taj Gibson/JJ Hickson type of player. Not a top 5 prospect, but a player who is worth a lottery pick.
