First of all, english is not my first language, so I’m going to do my best.

I want to know your opinion about some players that are not very known but have a little chance to entry in the draft. Today I bring to the discussion the name of Anas Mahmoud.

He’s a center with good mobility, measured in 7 foots, he can run the floor and defend the pick & roll, but his main skill is his shot blocking. Also he contests every shot as well. He blocks 6’6 shots per 40 minuts, wich is the best ratio among the NCAA players I think. He doesn’t pick up bad fouls (only 2’4 per 40 minuts) wich shows a good defensive awareness. In the other hand, he barely has scoring ability.

Some scouts have said he has a good work ethic, so he is really coachable.

Even with his light frame, he could be a rotation player who provides good rim protection and rebounding but he’s already a senior and he will turn 23 before the draft, so he has very little upside.

What do you think about him? Could he plays in the league? Have you a good comparison for him?

I don’t think he has the body to bang down low nor the skill set to stretch the floor. He will earn some Summer League action for sure, but I see him in Europe as his contract would be worth a lot of value becauise he isn’t an American, but has loads of training and experience against top-level American players. That keeps an extra roster spot open for another American college player. Will have a long, lucrative career overseas, and that is nothing to sneeze at!
