Is there a Tim tebow comparison in the NBA?

Just a little change up but is there a NBA player who reminds you of Tim tebow? A guy who's prob bit that good but had success at 1 point but can't seem to get another shot in the league?

Tebow in another sense

Not using your definition of Tebow but Tyler Hansbrough in a sense. One of the greatest college players of all time, which probably got them both a little overdrafted. Used to get more playing time, now is on the bench more. Won a playoff game/series. Extremely inefficient.

I could argue both Jeremy Lin

I could argue both Jeremy Lin and Darren collison. Both had 1 excellent year in new York and new orleans respectively and then once they moved to different cities, their careers plummeted. Lin in Houston and collison in both Indy and Dallas. Towards the end of the season mike James was starting over collison, you can't much lower than that. And now in the playoffs, Houston could arguably Patrick Beverly over lin, again you can't get much lower than that.

Tebow is not done yet Lin and

Tebow is not done yet

Lin and Collison are both young and talented players who will shine soon enough if they are in the right situation. There are tons of NBA players that look better in situations suited to their styles of play and not others.

Jimmer.

Tebow and Jimmer were both collegiate super stars who were closely tied to religion and who were absolutely massive fan favorites. Every stadium/arena was full whenever either played in college. Both were viewed skeptically as pro prospects due to their limitations, but both were picked relatively high compared to what most analysts had predicted a month before the draft. Once in the pros, both exploded the jersey sales of their teams. Tebow's jersey was the #1 sold nationally and the Kings sold more Jimmer jerseys in his first week on the team than they had sold in total jerseys the year before. Finally, both have managed to disappoint those that thought they would completely abandon their weaknesses, but both have shown more promise than their harshest critics would like to admit. It's hard to explain Tebow's constant DNPs when you consider his penchant for winning. It's also hard to explain Jimmer's constant DNP's when you consider that he finished the season in the NBA's top-10 for points per minute played.

The one big difference is that Tebow has remained a celebrity super star (likely due to the fact that football is a more popular sport and that he bring an evangelical fan base, which is larger than Jimmer's Mormon fan base). Jeremy Lin would be my #2 comparison as Linsanity is probably the only thing the NBA has seen that topped Tebow Mania in the last couple of years.

Saw the title and immediate

Saw the title and immediate thought Jeremy Lin. Jeremy Lin is an average NBA point guard at best, but people expect him to be better than what he is due to Linsanity. Linsanity was completely insane and Tebow has sort of the same story. Leading the Broncos to the playoffs AND winning a game when nobody thought he could. But I like the post about comparing him to Tyler Hansbrough. People think they are better than what they are because of what they did in college. Even if they go out and become just the average player it won't be good enough because people expect to much.

Psycho T is a better

Psycho T is a better comparison because they both rely on physicality to compensate for lack of overall skills

Tebow comparison...

It would have to be someone/point guard who can't pass well and is picked off a lot such as Avery Bradley and his 1.8 assists per game with 2.3 turnovers per game and is still considered a stud.
