Is there anyone that actually likes watching nate robinson in the Dunk Contest?

I for one am starting to get tired of it. The dunk contest hasnt exactly been the best attraction at all star weekend anymore. but iv ebeen tired of seeing nate there 4 the last few years now. i mean 1st it was the marathon contest which i completely stopped watching. then there jus been sub par stars in the contest. when can we get a contest when at least a good or great player is in the contest? and im not talking about watching dwight howard. these players need 2 put their ego aside and get in the contest becuz now its all about them not wanting to lose. well if im getting paid millions to have a job like playin in the league and sumbody asks me 2 be in a dunk contest then trust me ill do it.

I am. It was cool at 1st and real crazy to see someone his size dunk.......but now?

He's like that person with 1 arm at the local Circus that comes around every year. Crazy at 1st, but now its not all that much to get excited about.

Robinson

Nate Robinson has impressed me to the point where I am so sick of him... I'm pretty sure the only thing I want to see in a dunk contest now is a midget throwing it down, 'cause that would one up Nate and be even more impressive

Yeah im definitely tired of

Yeah im definitely tired of seeing him in dunk contests. Initially you say, wow its amazing how physically talented he is at his height to be able to do that. Then you see him mess up the same attempted dunk like 10 times and even then you say, wow he has to be in spectacular shape, but then when he does that same thing every year you get tired of it. I do believe that he said he wasnt going to participate anymore, and i know rudy gay and andre igoudala were saying that theyd be in the next contest which will be nice.

I Dont Know Another Superstar

I Dont Know Another Superstar Who Would Do It
Even If LeBron was There I Think He Wouldnt Have Done ANything Special
LeBron For Me Is An In-Game Dunker
As Nate Robinson is a Dunk Contest Dunker
i like watching Robinson Dunk in the Contest
But Last year with the lack of good competition
and the year before that where dwight and Nate were the only real competitors
The Dunk Contest has Become Boring Itself Because Of The Lack Of Dunks
That Players Are ABle To Do Nowadays

League's Athleticism

For how much everyone loves talking about how much more athletic the league is today, we don't have that much to show for it. I think 8-10 years ago the league had more athleticism.

The problem isn't the

The problem isn't the athletes, it's the creativity. There is almost nothing you can do know that we haven't seen. 360's and windmills don't impress us. Also dunk contests used to be great because superstars participated. Dr. J, Jordan and Nique, now a days we have the "rising stars" dunk contest with guys who aren't even great dunkers.

To apb540

I think that today guys are more athletic but back 8-10 years ago, the league was much more skilled. Todays game guys are able to physically destroy other guys rather than outwit and or just use raw skills to get it done. Look at d wade and lebron. 2 of arguable the best players in the league. There are much more exhibits of elite athleticism than skill, or exhibits of brute strength and quickness than skill. In yesteryears game, you had guys who had the athleticism, but called upon it when absolutely necessary and used skill and used it well (see jordan, drexler, payton etc) The skill showed up in the dunk contest when you had guys who were jumping out of the gym as well as completing dunks that were actually fun to watch whereas now you have guys like shannon brown with a 45 inch vertical but do dunks where they expect to get 50s for jumping that high rather than doing anything creative.

Nate is my hero

I'm tired of Nate Robinson but not more than Derozan and Eric Gordon. Those guys had no excuses for such lame dunks.

Put Gerald Wallace in that category as well.

The whole all-star weekend is

The whole all-star weekend is getting to the point where the NBA is almost trying to not put their best players on showcase...I mean, the whole point of the thing is to generate fan interest, and honestly i don't want to see guys from the 10th spot on a bench doing dunks and shooting 3s, i want to see the best. For example, when durant was in the HORSE game, I wanted to watch it because he was one of the best, however, Ray Allen hasn't been in a 3 point contest. Seriously, this is the guy who is probly the best shooter in NBA history(arguably) yet he's never been there? Ridiculous. Also, Lebron definetely needs to be in a dunk contest, and win. This couild seriously help his reputation. He needs to show that he's out there for the fans and put on a show.

Gerald Wallace

Did you guys see Wallace in the Slam dunk comp this past year? Cause if you did you wouldnt want him back in it, he was terrible.

dwat4444

FYI dwat4444, Ray Allen has been in the 3-point contest many times, but he hasn't been in it for the last few years. But I do agree with you that they need to bring more stars to all-star weekend.

Who do yall think should be

Who do yall think should be in the Dunk Contest next year?

I think any 4 of Westbrook, J-Smoove, Iggy, Rose, T-Will, Gay, and maybe D-Wade and Lebron. NOT Nate Robinson. I was actually gonna post the same thing the other day but was too lazy lol

Yeah, there is only so much

Yeah, there is only so much that the dunk contest guys can do at this point. We've pretty much seen all the top tier dunks, and there are more super athletes than it was in Jordan's era. Some of the guys now can pull of dunks that Jordan and Wilkins did back in the day pretty easily and it would get them like a 7-8 unless there was some kind of gimmick thrown in also. I'd say about 70-80% of the dunks aren't impressive anymore because we're used to them.

hehehehe

Shannon Brown sucked in the 2010 COntest... What was he doing there in the first place? But yeah... I'm tired of Nate participating every year... Of all people in the world, I always thought a guy like J-Rich should have been the first Slam Dunk champ winning thrice a row...

We need the dunk contest

We need the dunk contest every 3-5 years, that way it still holds a little bit of excitement since you haven't seen it in awhile and we don't have to see crap year after year. It's kind of like the World Cup, people only care because it happens every 4 years.
